Well, no luck today... got the drivetrain in and all hooked up only to find out that the button has popped off of the hydraulic head again... more work for me tomorrow. Looks like I may have to push my departure date another day. Really disappointing that it didn't fire right up. I've already...
Probably should have ground hopped the new motor at some point... I hope it doesn't screw me. It looks excellent in every aspect from all my inspections so far.
Motor is out! Most of the things that needed to be transferred from one motor to the other ( spin on filters) are done. Just the alternator left to swap, then back in with it. Throttle connector pin at the injector pump was almost worn through! I decreased and pressure washed everything I could...
I thought it might have been the same one. Something about the Circus paint scheme was familiar... And there a new nickname is born. It shall henceforth be known as "The Circus Wagon ".
One of our members had one of these for sale in the classifieds a while back... maybe a year ago or more. I wanted it but couldn't afford it at the time, and the tires were dry rotted, so towing it home with a bar was a no go. If memory serves he was only asking $3000, maybe less. Also, good...
Find out what your trans needs. I have some brand new parts including a mainshaft that I removed today when I installed my overdrive kit. If it needs more than that I have a couple of whole used transmissions here, if you can't source one closer. Nice looking truck though.
As some of you know I've been chasing a lack of power issue with my current engine for a while now, and I don't trust it to make the rally and back. Today I started the transplant. I installed the waterloo overdrive kit into a N.O.S transmission that I've had for a while now, and also installed...
Hey kenny, do you want me to bring your 101 bed ? Will you be able to get it home from the rally? I really thought my buddy would have been by on his way back there by now.
That's good data. Of course output at similar rpm will be different between your truck and ours because the pulley size is different, but I doubt it is a drastic difference. There are also two different diameter pulleys used on alternators that are installed on the NHC 250 vs the 8.3.
Cam wear will eventually happen in all of our trucks because motor oil these days has no ZDDP in it to speak of. Mine recently developed a ticking sound too, and if it is because of cam wear then that would explain why my truck is down on power. I swapped my injectors out today and it didn't get...
If you use a 60 amp 24v relay, it should handle 30 amps 12v. Find a bigger relay. Or dont bother at all. If it is a true one wire alternator it should not need to be switched off on shutdown.
