No I have not. I did have a very dirty fuel system for a long time ( rusty tank and filter housings). I figured I would eventually have to put an hh on it because of that anyhow. Then again, it may just be injectors getting weak again, or low compression getting bad on a couple of cylinders.
So just an update on this... the past week or two I've noticed that my truck is noticeably lacking power. Idles fine, doesn't sound rough or stumble on acceleration. It just acts like I have partially clogged fuel filters all the time. I installed an oil pressure gauge today plumbed into the...
You may have a small hole in a piston, not big enough to make it miss, but enough to hear the tick from compression escaping. Does it have any blowby from the slobber tube when it is running cold?
You can get them directly from Ambac, or I think Gimpyrobb has some maybe. Welldigger has the oring kits for cheap. You don't need to rebuild the heads, just free up the plungers with good penetrating oil, replace the orings, and button retaining clip if need be, then reinstall them and fire...
That's why the lmtv trucks are junk. Too much electronic crap. It's all alright though, in the next war this country gets into the electronic issues will be such a hindrance and thus will begin getting enough people killed that our military will learn this old lesson over again. Simple is...
All these trucks were hand built and hand riveted. Hole spacing can vary wildly from one to another. How many deuces have you seen with even door sill gaps and even fender/ hood/ grille alignment?
You can put the spicer 3053a out of an A2 behind the cat motor, and even install the waterloo specialties extreme overdrive in the transmission before you install it. That'll get you more speed and more mpg.
It is a good idea to pack the hubs and inspect/ repair the brake system before you throw bigass tires on there, especially on a truck you don't know the maintenance history on. The brake systems on these trucks are extremely dangerous if not kept in top shape. You don't want to kill or maim...
I have a motion industries locally as well. They are douches. They won't even attempt to deal with you if you walk in, they just tell you they are an online company only and you have to order online and then they will ship to you. Really pissed me off to the point I don't want to deal with them...
Replace all of the soft fuel lines. That should be the first thing you do when you have stalling issues with these trucks.
If it isn't sucking air, then that means the shutdown solenoid is faulty and must be removed (8.3L), or replaced (nhc250).
So hard to tell if you are getting the right parts because some of the surplus dealers don't label their parts worth a crap. It can be quite infuriating
Pull the damaged pistons and check the liners for scoring. If the liners are good, just run a cylinder hone through them and replace the pistons. You could use used pistons, just inspect the skirts well for excess wear. Use new ones if you can afford them. If you get new ones, make sure they are...
I was just thinking that if it pulls itself into gear under load spinning one way, perhaps it could do the opposite spinning in the other direction. Seems logical enough, but of course I am not the resident spicer expert here. Only had mine apart once so far.
