There is no way the plunger is too small unless it is missing a big chunk, or you have the gasket for the cover doubled up maybe. Make sure the cable is adjusted properly so that the engine will shut down without having to pull it out too far. I think you are overlooking something simple. Maybe...
I daily drive mine. Bear in mind I went through almost everything when I got the truck. Now I pack my hubs once a year or when they start leaking, whichever comes first. Change oil every 3-5000 miles depending on who has rotella on sale and when. Inspect belts and hoses every time you change the...
For what you want to build, a 5 ton is a more suitable platform to start with. The bigger axles and driveline will hold up to the enormous tires and high horsepower that you are wanting to install. Look for an M54, or M809 series truck. Looks just like a deuce, in fact uses many of the same...
You can't have it both ways. We have another member that installed a stock 12v Cummins with an allison trans and lifted it 8" and installed 16r20s. He knows if he ever leaves pavement it will snap an axle in a heartbeat, just with a stock motor... now we just have to see how long it all holds up...
You will tear up a lot of stuff fast if you put that Cummins in it. If you lift it and put tires larger than 11r20s on it with the multifuel you won't like the loss of performance. You can't install anything bigger than 395s unless you Bob it, which I must try and persuade you not to do. If you...
You obviously haven't seen a large displacement six cylinder gasoline driven military engine run. It can be mistaken for a diesel by the black smoke. Only the sound gives it away. But you'll be lucky to get 4mpg with it. Buy it, burn a tank of fuel around town for fun, then pull the motor and...
I can tell you the axles have nothing to do with the smell. They are not connected to the front drive air engagement system in any way whatsoever, except by the driveshaft.
Make sure the vent on the transfer case isn't plugged up or stuck shut. Mine actually pushed some gear oil out of the transfer case all the way up through the air line to the air switch and out onto the floor and my foot once on a roadtrip. The vents get plugged and the pressure is going to go...
Unscrew the tachometer drive cable, then unscrew the drive assembly from the timing cover on the front of the engine. You will find a couple of rubber O- rings, replace them and reinstall. If the leak continues, the headgaskets is leaking oil out the front and blowing both back onto the oil...
Just find a GOOD LDS, make sure it has 12 point rod bolts and the new style headgaskets, then install the waterloo specialties overdrive kit in your stock trans, and you'll have a pretty reliable, fairly powerful engine and you can run 65 with 1100r20s.
Don't turn this into an over complicated...
All of those problems are attributed to sitting for long periods of time, not poor design. Once the problems are addressed, which only takes about an hour, they are a long lasting pump. The biggest killer of them is rusty fuel tanks putting fine rust particles through subpar factory filters and...
