How to make a replacement "Axle Switch" Hose

The DOT plastic tubing will be fine as long as you do a good job of routing and securing it. That's what it was made for, and ARB air lockers use a similar type of plastic tubing. If you want to give it a little bit of extra abrasion resistance where it might rub on anything, slide a piece of...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

Oh no, not at all. Precision Rebuilders didn't charge me any more than they would have for a stock rebuild. There's really nothing 'custom' about the setup I ordered - it's just a combination of parts that didn't come from any one application. They have a big inventory of all these type of parts...

    planning an LDS swap

Thanks. Just got all those parts ordered from Memphis. Would have just ordered them when I got the pan gasket, but that was before the engine hoist failed and now I'd rather not have to deal with pulling parts off the old engine.

    planning an LDS swap

So looks like there are two oil pump pickup tubes. I need to swap both of them out, right?

Oh I know. Just haven't gotten that far yet.

    planning an LDS swap

Thanks gimp. Remember that thread, but didn't think to go back to look at it again. Does anybody have an extra oil pickup setup for the deuce that I could buy? Would just rather not have to open-up the old engine...

    planning an LDS swap

Also, regarding the oilpan, is it simply a matter of flipping parts around and moving the dipstick, or am I going to need to pull parts out of the old engine?

What are these parts and which version do I want to use?

more questions & ideas related to fording kits

Hey, thanks again for hooking me up with that valve Bjorn. Installed it on the new LDS engine today, and will probably end up taking it off to clean it up a bit, but it's finally all starting to come together.

    Oil Pan Skid Plate

Even then, it's still only flat plate. Really needs to be boxed-in (add sides) and mounted to the chassis at the back if you want to build something that can take hard hits.

    Deuce Skid Plates

fuel tanks are definitely on the list of things I'll be building skidplates for. Side protection too.

    Oil Pan Skid Plate

Eh, it might prevent the oilpan from getting dented if he runs over a small stump or something? Better than nothing for sure.

    planning an LDS swap

Found the torque specs for the flywheel, but what about the bellhousing and transmission? Probably not too critical, but would like to do this 'right'.

    how to remove 5-ton multi-fuel pressure-plate

Can anybody help me identify these bearings? They came with the LDS engine, and am assuming that one of them is a throwout bearing. Wondering if it will work with my 2.5-ton transmission? No idea about the other one. Feels much too large to be a pilot bearing. They're just in sealed packages and...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

The 1 3/4" master cylinder is going to build more pressure when used with the Hydro-Max 2 booster. It's the most powerful combination of parts, and the stock master cylinder is 1 3/4", so should have enough fluid volume. Gonna give it a try anyway...

Hydro-Max Brake Assist *pics added* (long read)

Ordered all the Hydro-Max parts from Precision Rebuilders this morning. They have to build a custom master cylinder for me because it's a unique configuration, with all of the specific features that I want to have for this application (50/50 1 3/4" master cylinder, with a pressure differential...

    planning an LDS swap

They're pretty expensive and I'd prefer to use parts that I could replace at any auto parts store.

    how to remove 5-ton multi-fuel pressure-plate

Got it. Popped right off. Thanks again guys. Have no use for these parts, so put them up for sale.

Dunno anything about the generators on these things, but am planning on replacing it with a dual alternator setup.
