    Engine Pre-Oiler (soliciting opinions)

Is that before or after the sprinkler box?

    Engine Pre-Oiler (soliciting opinions)

Called an accumulator. Could easily automate it with a 24v solenoid valve. http://lightningmotorsports.com/i-298506.aspx?gclid=CIqJ8pyWgtMCFUkbaQodAbcCVg

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

So I ended up grabbing the 8.3L engine, 6 speed manual Eaton trans, and 3 banger Yanmar from the above vehicle. Engine is for sale as a rebuildable core or parts if anybody needs. Price in classifieds. Would consider selling the Yanmar also. I really just wanted the manual trans setup which...

    Engine Pre-Oiler (soliciting opinions)

My conclusion is nearly always the same: Do it up and post the results. The pic of the pre-lube pump above looks like a traditional hydraulic pump mated to a high current DC motor (starter?). What is the pressure rating on that thing? 2700psi?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Took this one for you guys, helmet horns not included. :) Solder them with the $19 torch to begin with, and not need any on the side of the road.

    .

Does anybody know of a single case where an M939 series either is or has been converted to a manual transmission? I just picked up a 6 speed Eaton single countershaft and Cummins 8.3L engine combo, just for the trans, clutch, and flywheel stuff. I also have a huge double-counter 13 speed on a...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Electrical solder is rosin core flux. Plumbing solder is acid core flux. Soldering is the way to go with these and very easy to do. Instructions above are correct. But you need to hold the torch on until you see the solder wick up the wire strands. It is very difficult, almost impossible...

    Engine Pre-Oiler (soliciting opinions)

I heard LDT/S engines were designed specifically to include cold environment starting, so all of the oil drains back into the pan from the filters (where it can be heated before starting engine if needed). Simp, if you pull oil from the oil cooler, how are you sucking it past the positive...

    Engine Pre-Oiler (soliciting opinions)

I think you'd still need to think about pushing pressure backward on the oil filter. Will it tear the pleats from the supports? Will it collapse any anti-drain back valves that are not designed to have any reverse pressure applied to them? I do know large engines like locomotives and ships do...

    Engine Pre-Oiler (soliciting opinions)

I support what you are doing, such projects are always fun, and want to add some info: I'd question pushing pressure backward on the oil filter? Also you would have to draw oil from the pan, and would then be sending non-filtered oil to the bearings if injecting it post-filter. We are a...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

The reefer engine units are specific and obscure. It has a gigantic oil pan that hangs down below it as an appendage, holds gallons of oil (and only a 650cc engine). This is because it runs continuously, is 10' in the air, and they know will never get checked or changed again. That makes it...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I scored a second 12mm P-7100 injection pump, gear, lines, and intake, from an intercooled civilian 8.3L. This reefer truck also has an awfully cute Yanmar 3 cylinder liquid cooled diesel engine in the chiller unit. I'm now studying the pump oiling path, and need to understand how it is done...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

80 pages, one piston set, 2 ring sets, heads, sleeves, magic rod bolts, and an engine block later, OP still has blow-by. I'm blaming the WMO fuel, unknown liquid content (glycols, etc...), but each their own. Send a liquid sample from the city municipal recycle center you are drawing from, out...

Need advice on 8.3 engine repair

This will be a fun one to keep a pulse on. Remind me not to buy your truck! Cool science experiment though.

    Home brew hard top

Yeah, except I'll take it in left hand drive please (not right). Here it is, not done with a mouse: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?126253-5-Ton-HET I would pay bucks to have this grafted onto mine in a heartbeat. He did a beautiful job. We have some artists here.

    Me @ Livonia MI Cruise!

You're not touching it. You'll put waste motor oil in the fuel tank.

    Wildchild467 Made the News !!!!

People are "hanging around the back of your trailer" because you are too scared to exceed 49mph on the freeway for fear the engine will disappear.
