After 300 mile roadtrip I got back home to slower speeds and a noidy off-idle rattle.

Bad batch of diesel? Try a can of seafoam. Definitely can’t hurt. Is injector pump original? Never rebuilt? Your 33k+ over its rated life before overhaul.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I checked the oil yesterday. Been gone flying quite a bit lately and was having CUCV withdrawals. 3 weeks is a long time! M1008A1 fired right up.

    ValuCraft Water pump

Even if it’s lifetime warranty, doesn’t really help if you have to change it 3 times in one year. You get what you pay for. It’s not a hard job to replace one, just time consuming. What’s your time worth? Buy the best parts you can afford. I made that mistake in 1997 by going with a reman...

    Where's the HEAT !!

Been Covered many times. Either heat core or blend door or a combo of both.

    Special Forces style seat covers.

Hey Mister Tinstar - Do you think any of those other manufacturers would consider sewing hidden pockets on the inside to hold heating elements? I don't mind paying for a custom quality product. Last time I checked, there was plenty of my daughter's inheritance left. What they make fits over...

    Cold weather 09 CUCV

If you press full pedal while waiting for glow plugs to cycle it will set the the fast idle solenoid. Keeping them stock, healthy and maintained makes all the difference. I have yet to use my block heater.

    Special Forces style seat covers.

Totally understand the cost issue. The old jacket comment wasn’t derogatory. Just my observation and opinion. I’m sure you know that there are other seat accessory manufacturers out there that already make a cover that actually fits and are not just pockets hanging on a seat. Made of true...

Keep on eye on eBay. I found two NOS factory GM ones on there last year. My first M1008A1 had new GM installed when I picked it up at Ft. Hood Seller actually had more and I posted info (not a link) on SS and they All sold that day. I should have bought them all but didn’t want to be greedy...

So the thousands of M1008/1028 trucks in private hands and hundreds on this website aren’t worth the trouble? Got it

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Ignition key is square head and doors are the rounded head. Standard civillian GM setup for these. Unless you find a NOS CUCV set, you’ll have two keys.

Well blew another head gasket :(

I would install a new set of head gaskets. You have already gone this far and a new set is cheap insurance. There might be some flaw/damage to the current set that you can’t see.

You get what you pay for. Plenty of cheap gauges out there.

Amazon has the complete sets. I replaced the door locks and ignition key assembly. They fit perfect. They were also the least expensive
