The 6.2L couldn’t be ANY easier to work on.
My Duramax is a nightmare and parts are expensive.
I just spent $400 on new GM fuel injection preformed hoses.
Injectors alone are over $800 each.
Lower radiator hose is $350
......you get the idea.
I know it’s comparing apples to oranges but...
I just bang on hood above the latch with my fist after pulling cable.
The latch is dry and friction is holding it down.
Just a Firm smack and not trying to break my hand.
When mine does this, it’s time to relube the latch.
Then no issues until dust, etc dries it out again.
I drive my M1008A1 daily with few exceptions.
I’m 59.1 miles from the 100k milestone on it.
Gremilins gone but, of course, maintenance is never ending. As with anything mechanical.
Just back from New Mexico and turned 409k (yes, 409,000) on my stock 2006 GMC Sierra Duramax.
Only thing I’ve...
Off road tires mean 4 wheeling
Manual glow plugs mean something doesn’t work correctly (usually).
Snow Plow means abuse and salt....aka rust.
Need pics since a modified truck is worth only what someone is willing to pay for it in that condition.
The all stock trucks will always be worth...
Greased the pintle hitch shaft.
Forgot about it and have been hooked up to M101A2 almost daily.
(Have to get some gravel today with it.)
Last....and only time it was greased was when truck was first acquired.
It was very dry and has a little play in the shaft.
Hopefully no damage was done...
Proof?
I wouldn’t be bragging.
You were lucky to get home in one piece since that trailer can wag that little truck around without any trouble.
I know the truck can pull it just fine.
Handling and stopping it is a totally different issue.
You can watch and be careful about distances all you...
Have you replaced the glow plugs before?
If not,’you need to.
Most guys here use the ACDELCO 60Gs
It could be several things, including starter.
Do the Doghead relay modification if you haven’t already.
Read the CUCV helpful stickies
Also, a good digital multimeter is a must have item if...
Truck-Lite 3/4” LED Marker lights.
Smallest DOT approved light available.
Much brighter in person and especially at night.
Not military, but a whole lot easier install than the Military marker lights.
The NSN search brings up Butler products as the manufacturer.
This is the M1101/2 civilian equivalent, made by exact same manufacturer.
No it doesn’t have the wheel, but I can live with that. You can always install one.
They are made in the USA and are excellent jacks.
Mine are 5k rated. Have...
He sold them all if that’s want you wanting to know.
They are available commercially by same manufacturer.
Only difference is the steel wheel isn’t bolted to foot.
I misread your post earlier.
I thought you already had a 5 ton and were looking for a parts truck.
I agree with ODFever.
Would not get a 5 ton from a junkyard, with the intention of making it a driver, unless you had seriously deep pockets.
5 tons are fairly expensive to own and operate...
What about installing clearance and marker lights and reflective tape?
Would help visibility a lot and look so much better than lights installed upside down.
I completely understand “why” you did that, just looks weird IMHO.
Unless your really close to trailer, the stock location and mounting...
