See if you can't locate some low temperature solder too. Some of the older audio electronics had tinfoil wrapped string rather than real stranded copper wire to keep them flexible.
Treat the +24v side and the +12v side as independent circuits. The -12 and -24v leads should be connected together to give all circuits in your truck a common ground referenced to the negative side of the vehicle battery. I would recommend both a switch and a fuse on the input to the 24/12...
With the new battery technologies available a rechargeable unit would probably work well. I have plenty of thed 5588s available if you want a lithium.

You are looking for a manual for a VIC-1 and not a VRC system. VRCs are radio sets, VICs are intercom sets. The manual you need will be in the series TM 11·5830·340-xx. Chris over at Radionerds will have them on this link: http://www.radionerds.com/index.php/AN~VIC-1 The -12 manual is the...
Prices for military MS connectors are high enough but by going to the OEMs they add their markup which can be substancial. An $80 connector from the manufacturer could end up costing hundreds. When I was at Varian the normal markup was X4.5 original cost. This same connector (when you know...
Would someone with a Mile Marker winch please take a minute and go look for the MS connector part numbers stamped into the side of the connectors? That's all dodgemain is looking for. Once he has the part numbers it's an easy task to build up the harness.
Thanks
The AN/VIC-1 intercom systems came into use at the same time the VRC-12 family of radios was introduced, vintage mid-1960s. They are still in use today but are being replaced with the VIC-3, VIC-5, ROVIS, and DVIS systems in today's vehicles.
Cole-Hersey makes some very nice switches that will mount there. You can also look at switches made for marine applications on the West Marine site. I prefer breaking the negative side of the battery.
I was just saying that an NPT pipe cap has the same thread size and pitch for reference. I've used PVC caps on my antenna matching units for years to keep them clean and damage free. FYI, the AS3900 uses a 1" PCV cap
Referencing an NPT thread pitch gauge a 3/4" fitting has the SAE equivalent...
The IP solenoid does get it's power from the control box (engine connector A) but it's on a straight through connection (body connector B) from the ignition switch.
As NDT says, the #54 lead to the IP should only have power when the ignition switch is turned on.
Remember when installing and removing electrics in the HMMWV you want to have the batteries disconnected for safety. I know this may sound repetitive but there are newcomers on these forums every...
To have current draw in a vehicle electrical system you need to have 2 things, a supply point and a return point The return point in the HMMWV is the negative terminal so when you disconnect that lead you have effectively gone open circuit and won't have current flowing in the vehicle...
If the AC holes are small enough you can use screws to seal them. If they can't be sealed with screws you can try plugs but it's a fight because of the low coefficient of friction of the tank material. After fighting a hole in a Dodge Caravan tank I finally gave up and replaces the tank. I...
I originally mounted a home door viewer camera in the body of my ambulance but then saw one of the newer and smaller cameras mounted in the hole in the D pillar directly above the pintle hitch and mounted another camera there. It works perfectly as a rear view camera and makes coupling up to a...
