You guys got a nice spot here on the SS board. Very informative and lots of good threads. I will make sure that I check in more often. Maybe one day I will own a M-135 or finally pull the trigger on a M-34 project.

Hi Steve,
I have distanced myself from the SS site recently for many reasons but I am glad I came to this section where I normally do not go.
Thank you for taking the time and writing about what you did in Vietnam with the V-17's. I hope you dont mine but I would like to copy and paste your...
WOW that is a beautiful truck!!!! Stick with it!! If thats your dad in the passenger seat, he is lovin it and knows it! To me it sure sounded like the airpack. I dont own one but I have always had a soft spot for the M-135 so who knows, maybe one day I will own one. Anyhow I do own a...
He is still around. Not much for inventory left on the M37 as Bizal and A.B have gotten a bunch of it over the last 2 yrs. But he still manages to bail out us local 37 owners still with his "secret stash".
Sounds like thats the case. I guess what I would do is take a look at the linkage at that splitter and figure out which direction you need to go for drive and move the handle in that direction and maybe take a soft mallet just to see that your indeed engaging it. I cant say how the set up...
Just as you discribed..............................Engine runs the generator..........When the truck is running and your in 4th gear, is the shaft turning to the splitter?
That is too bad, the carriers are now getting pretty pricy. Ive got mine installed and at some point it needs to come back off and I need to install bushings at the hinge as its pretty worn and does not close well.
Well then if you do have ALL of Lyles books................Pg 5 of the first book (the black one) in the upper right corner is a PICTURE of the French GMC with the 40MM!!!
The Rothman book is basically a collection of information out of the already existing GT books.
If you would like more information that is better written. Find a copy of the "Hard Ride" by James Lyles. There are 3 books of it, the first being Hard Ride I, then there was II that came out but the publisher printed lots of pictures in Black and white. The 3rd version has more pictures...
Ive done a fair amount of research and I have never seen or heard a 40mm going in a M-Series truck to be considered a "GunTruck" during the US involvement in Vietnam. What you need to understand is the definition of a "Guntruck" is loosely noted as a "Task vehicle" meaning a cargo truck "that is...
I'd take a lot of the info in that book and not make it gospel. I'm glad someone bought it for me as I would have been pissed if I personally paid money for it.
I thought I explained it pretty well in what it is in my reply.............so for the flat landers.

Not to mention, since its aircraft and the military flies airplanes and helicopters with this...........well if your being judged in...
