    My new uh-1e marine helo.

Lucky people. The only part of a 53 (or Huey) that ever survives a fire is the rotor and engine guts. Everything burns or melts. My avatar is us taking off from Yuma I took the picture) on our way out to the range to play...er..exercise. What year was that?

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

Nice pictures....things have definitely changed in 25 years! Differences...365 used to be HMH 365, used to be CH-53As and Ds, No armor for the Marines, just flak vests, helmets were steel and we still wore cammies. Other than that, same crappy desert.

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

I heard about that one. There's supposed to be 12 hours bottle to throttle, ESPECIALLY at WTI. I'll admit I blasted off a couple times a little under the weather, but my BAC was always as closs to zero as you can get. I know 0311, but I don't recognize the other two. Mine were 6113 and when...

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

Ahh, good to here nothings changed at the stumps. Iwo Yuma (as we called it) and WTI. Loved every FREAKING minute of it! Hanging out the back window of a CH-53A searching for A-4s, F-4, A-7s or whatever else wanted to play, bouncing all over the place, .50s out the windows eliminating...

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

My only landing with an N was at Dover in the back of a C-5. Talk about BIG! 29 stumps, nothing there I ever want to go back for. One deployment there...too hot, sand in everything and them **** rats in everything! El Toro was nice. They didn't let us play there very often. Hated seeing us...

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

Top, I was one of those Crew Chiefs only in HMH-772 Det A, also known as HMH-769. They didn't let us fly very often, but I have got a couple hours in a CH-53A. Looks like you entered the same year I did. MCRD SD, Platoon 2088, BHC at Millington in Feb of '82. Rotors and related at Tustin...

    HEMTT Update

Slick, sorry, I'm a helicopter guy. A slick is just yer basic everyday stuff hauler. Anything else gets a moniker, for example: fueler, wrecker, water truck, etc.

    HEMTT Update

Probably a dumb question but where in the world do you pick up a HMMMT? Funnest driving truck EVER.. My license was for the refueler, so a slick hass got to be 100% more fun!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

    WTH, Found a tank today.

Hmmm, new terrorist deterent, may be? Realistically, every static display I've been involved with (lots and lots), appearance is the whole reason for it being there. If the bugs take over (especially the stinging ones) that's a hazardous situation. If not fixed, someone who is alergic to the...

    Rear Wheel Hub Temps?

Refueled both my deuces today. About a 20 mile round trip. Checked all the hubs at both the truck stop and at the house. No difference between any of the hubs. As a standard for hub overheat, I had a 1990 one ton Chevy for 4 years or so. One day one of the hubs had bearings going bad. I...

    M35a2 paint job

Very nice. May I ask what the decking cost you? Did you cut it your self? If you did, what kind of blade, assuming it was a table saw? [thumbzup]

    New V-100

Hmmm, There's one of these on the local base. Been wondering what it was for litterally years. Sorry, pics are NOT allowed. Vehicle does not run and is used for what appears to be static display. Great job getting yours running!

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

And those weird tail pipes that shot the exhaust up into the rotors. Long story short, I had a project that involved 6 former NG and AR Hueys. 5 were H's and one was a Victor. I didn't know what the funky pipe was for then, now I now know it's for IR suppression or some such thing.

    My new uh-1e marine helo.

srodocker, easy way to tell: back windows, if two is a D model or H model. Single window makes it any one of the following: A, B, C, E, F, K, L, P models. Basically they are two models, Bell model 205 has two windows and Bell model 204 has one window. Doubt it'll be any other models, i.e., N...
