New member and owner with questions to get 1043A2 started

Not knowing where this truck as been and water loaded up in the intake... How does one know it wasn't under water in the mud up to the windshield? Might want to think about pulling the glow plugs and cranking it to ?? Avoid a hydro-lock condition. Good time to test plugs too. Take a look at...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

My two cents worth.... Try this with the split loom. Split loom to edge the hole. See picture to get the idea. Use a little extra length so that it is spring loaded into hole. Could add some silicone / RTV to hold it in place. Everything work better with silicone, CAMO

    Air deflector

This is what is needed when souping up the power train to go faster than 57 MPH. Helps keep the front tires in contact with the pavement for better handling when breaking the sound barrier. Bah bah BOOM ! CAMO

    Rough idle/no start

Doesn't look like my fuel pump. 12 volt ? Is this a HMMWV ? HMMWV... Normal pressure 4 PSI low to 8 high. At least 1 pint in thirty seconds at cranking speeds of 150 RPM minimum. 77 F. degrees. Anything more is a little better, CAMO

Vsq antenna n type connector to am/fm needed

That antenna is designed for 420 to 450 MHz, 50 ohm impedance. Broadcast band AM-FM wavelengths are much longer by magnitudes and normally 100 ohms impedance in automobiles. So, while a cool antenna for the range it was designed for, it will not be very effective for the broadcast bands of 540...

Glow plugs burning out, even with manual controller

It seems there as been a bit of a increase in pricing from the 90's and maybe a little failure rate ? > http://www.dtic.mil/dtic/tr/fulltext/u2/a393867.pdf < Inflation has hit the hobby? Just when your having fun, shell out more money. And for the those looking to go Hmmwv. A simple...

Glow plugs burning out, even with manual controller

Well, that's good we agree on BEER. You are right again on the old truck designs too. The trend has been coming at us for at least that long. That would be true of the those that roiled down the line in the 80's. First without seat belts and ungraded to two point then three point belts...

Glow plugs burning out, even with manual controller

That's right RWH. Being in the business your in, you have to keep to a standard. And I understand that there are the purest to keep it factory. I like factory. I like beer too. Not tying to hijack anyone's fun or sales to enjoy the hobby. When mine took a dump I wasn't in the know or had...

Glow plugs burning out, even with manual controller

The later PCB's having the 2 plugs (and not counting any diagnostic plug) have only one #8 ga wire to the glow plugs. It is pin "D" of the engine harness. All 8 plugs are spliced together in the harness to this wire. Removed (cut free and use this for feeding plugs) from controller and there is...

    Water Pump Question

Sorry for this headache. Maybe the local BBB or state agency could look into it. Check to see if they have other claims against them. I have seen news stories of like situations, high jacking deployed service members needs to be investigated. THANK's you for your service, good luck and be...

Humvee 6.5 seized--best way to free it up?

Maybe not best, but worked for me, With plugs and injectors out, should, could, maybe easy to rock the crankshaft back and forth with a breaker bar off the front damper bolt. Oil up the cylinders and give it a try. If free or frees up, hand turn for a while till your arm falls off. Do it...

    Water Pump Question

That's a bit messed up for a water pump. > " $2500 later and the wife can go and pick it up" < You better be waiting on the porch with $2500 diamond earrings in a cute little box. Mine would be quacking me and the truck, all the way home with a BIG baseball bat. This can't be good...

    "Wait" Light not illuminating

GREAT ! Remember TM's are written at less that high school level. All the design and engineering as been done over 40 years (generally). All (most all) we want to do is straighten out some of the dents, blow on some paint, work out some rattles or leaks, make it safe and go... and on the...

Many points of failure surrounding the not so smart start box system. For the worked yesterday and now won't start problems take a look at the TM's (any problem for that matter) Read over the operation of system, breaking it down into simple / logical components. Coupled with the flow chart...
