When I was in Korea in the 90's we went to a supply depot where they had a deuce on rail wheels that they used to switch RR cars out with. It was pretty cool to see it dragging a couple of box cars down the track.
You can try slow charging the batteries one at a time. It takes one day or better per battery. Use the lowest charge rate on your charger. Voltage should read 12 or higher at full charge. Disconnet them from each other before charging. If they all don't read very close to each other you will...
The 800 series trucks are LOUD and everything on them is heavy. If you want a 5 ton you can prob get a 900 series for what you'll pay for the 800. The 900's are more user friendly and if you get a HARSCO version with the 8.3 Cummins in it you will save a bunch on fuel. The 250 is a good engine...
I tried to buy one of those tanker trailers from Redstone (lots of rocket and missile testing up there) but someone wanted it more than I did. I was going to cut it up and make a big culvert out of it. They also had some vans similar to that one but they were generator trailers and had two big...
The mirrors easily fold in (they were designed to do that for loading onto transport) even when the bolts are seemingly tight. You can fold one or both in prior to driving it through the gate. If you have spot mirrors they may be mounted even lower than the big mirrors. Even with the mirrors...
They're about 1/2 inch thick. I had to trim them (I got them just like they came out of the mold) but I used a small pair of sissors and didn't have any issues.
Ok folks...something dropped into my lap and if there is sufficient interest I'll stock up and bring a load to the rally. I met a fellow that gets seconds from a factory that makes rubber floor mats. These are the high dollar ones you see in Granger and similar catalogs. They are non-slip and...
Elmo and Ellie Mae were with me but somehow they slipped out of the truck and went "boondocking" so I didn't get any possum pics on the HETTs. They finally showed back up just before I was ready to leave and Elmo had a gleam in his eye so I guess at least the possums had a good time in the heat...
I put the new lights in my M927 and they are the greatest thing since pu.......errrrrrr sliced bread. They really light up the road ahead and if you suffer from night blindness like I do they make a lot of difference in certain situations.
YesterdaY I went over to Ringgold, GA and helped Derek (Taylortradingco) unload some HETTs he is brokering for a fellow member here on SS.
There was a secondary mission of getting an M931 to crank that he recently bought and was having issues with. We worked on it all day and I used every trick...
Those may be the same size as the tires on my Missile Command Trailer. I don't want to sell them but it may give you an idea of where to look to find some.
When I was the Rations Driver for a Signal unit in Germany back in the 70's how well you ate depended on how good the Mess Sgt. was at running his account. You would eat a lot of chicken, liver, veal and cheaper cuts of meat all month and once or twice a month we would have steak dinners. These...
