    Best source for 700R4?

The mechanical aspect is straight forward. The TV cable adjustment and converter lockup are the critical "must think" part of the install. Get with it and post up if you stumble, we will try to steer you straight.

If you have a springer seat, that back cushion is about twice as thick as it need be. Instant and measurable leg room. Once you get home, search pedal adjustment, might be worth it for you too. Windows, I used a product called backer bar. Its round foam in different diameters used to fill...

    taboo to talk

Your logic confuses my simple mind. If this "Not Road Worthy" stamp is CYA, why do they use in exclusively on the HMMWV. By your own observation, 95% of the stock is not road worthy. Why only CYA on a few vehicles. Ponder this for a second. As a part of your contract to bid and purchase, you...

    taboo to talk

I don't think it's a CYA issue as assumed. If that were the case, 97% (estimated) of all rolling stock have something wrong with them like the headlight discussed. Certainly HMMWVs can't be the only vehicles that have bad headlights. So you didn't sign any documents that say it's for off road...

Moderators~ Time for a Generator only forum!?

I'm sure it will be along after the train forum. FYI, admin decides forums, not the mods.

    700R4 transmission in a HMMWV

The other often overlooked but highly valuable asset of the 700R4 is the 3.06 first gear. Huge benefit for a heavy and under-powered truck.

Roadside assistance pre-planning, Nashville to Savanna

I am long since out of deuces and big trucks but I have a few tools and small parts in my SECM. I'm in the N GA mountains. Post up your route, it will certainly help our crisis abatement team preplan.

Ha, no tablet here and have you seen my laptop? Most at the GA Rally have. It predates laptop cameras and the LCD is leaking the L.

Dragging a Halftrack halfway across the country

Bigger trailer with more deck space to fill, more axles to wear out and more tires to destroy. What's not to like?

New to me stake bed truck

The driveshaft should have a carrier bearing. 84" cab to axle length. Super useful truck.

Ooops, sorry Pat, if you were calling, my phone and the table saw had an unfriendly meeting. Use your blade guards folks.

M59 and M342, what are the stock differences?

Also worthy of noting, bed capacity is the same. The M342A2 bed is longer but has lower sides.

Looking for list of recommended tools

Power bleeder is a must have in my book. A GMTK isn't always practical in size but has a nice well rounded set of hand tools. Extra lights including a quality headlight (head mounted light) and road flares or cones. A wheel bearing socket is an on board must have as well. I think a jump box...
