Let me add this so it doesn't sound like I'm complaining too much. If this next rally is your first, don't feel compelled to volunteer. There is a lot to take in. If you feel something needs to be done and don't mind, knock yourself out. Other than that, sit back and enjoy the scenery. A small...
For those folks who never attended, I suggest you do. For those folks who never volunteer, I suggest you do.
It's a long weekend, surely everyone can spare one 4 hour block assisting friends and carrying the flame. Simple.tasks like refilling the hand was stations or washing dishes for one...
You should be ok on the relatively flat coast. Weight seems close to me, my truck is heavily laden with tools. At leas witb 4.10 cogs you can build up to 65-70 on thd downhills and be decent at the top of the next. Mountain hills really tax a 6.2.
Are you headed north? Overpasses will scrub off speed. Bigger hills will scub off even more. I have a CUCV with 4.10 gears and it will not maintain speed on a hill. My truck weighs 8500 and towing 3000# is a chore. 4.10 gears will help you build a hsad of steam going down hills.
Take off the clear plastic first. The black metal bezel is held on by the same screws and likely a cojple of more is that is a CUCV cluster. It looks like the gauges migbt be secured behind that. The thing is held in with something like 9/32 bolts.
Going with dual alternators but need to keep A/C compressor. I have a complete set of brackets for an ambulance so I'll press those into service with 2 new Leece Neville alts like used in the "plan b " mod. At this point I see no need to have that relay in the cab.
I wish I had the ability to capture similar data on mine since it has two 12V alts. I can say this, it works. I am considering using an ambulance setup along with the A/C stuff on another civy project. It is that dependable.
A Word from the RT
Firstly, I would like to thank all the folks who attend this rally. Each year folks seem to bring their best and it shows.
Thanks to all the volunteers who really do put lots of time and effort into the planning and operation of this event. I run one small insignificant...
There was some joker there with a drone. I wonder if he will post any pics. Anyone with access to the facebook page, feel free to copy the pics over here for the commoners.
I will work diligently towards this. I sent her a pic of that and she seems pleased. Between Phil's pic and the apple pie, I shoild survive. More is mo betta though.
I am in dire straits here. My wife insisted that I get pics of the MKT and its operations. I failed miserably. She is on her way home now so please, if some has pics, it would get me out of hot water.
Weighing some options here on a truck. I am considering getting a crew cab and would like to go to 24V starting. On a stock CUCV, there is that pesky relay under the dash. As most know, the truck uses 12V to energize a relay (doghead) that then connects and provides 24V. Is there any good...
