Where did you get the hand turn knobs from? Part of some kit, or you source them? Mine has these stupid bolts which drive me nuts every time I have to swivel it down to work on the back of the engine.
Ya, I'm saying for an X, the tires need to be remounted to keep the orientation the same, but on the opposite side of the vehicle. I suspect chalking the tire and rim and mounting it back the way it was, but with the tire reversed won't require all new balancing (mostly).
Around where I am, I...
I had already intended to rotate the tires in an X, but that will definitely require remounting to keep them rotating in the same direction and even out the wear from the rear camber.
Next step, replacing all of the coolant hoses and the hard pipe on the side of the engine. Everything has a very slow weep when cold (when hot, completely dry). After that, I suspect front brake pads may be next.... And just general maintenance. I still need to go over the whole maintenance...
Got the brass collar.. Put it around the metal hornswitch, pushed everything back flush with the steering wheel. HMMWV now has 'MEEP MEEP' noises.
I THINK for the first time since I bought it, everything works!
I was talking to a buddy about that earlier today. I have an "old" (mid 2000s) overhead projector and some transparency sheets for my laser printer. Was doing to try to print the HMMWV patterns and try to at some point. :) My only concern is it'd need to be reasonably "not light" outside to...
My experience (Minnesota), vehicles have 'VIN' and 'Serial Numbers'. All civilian vehicles after 1982? would have VINs that belong in a standard format. Custom vehicles, as well as some commercial (and military) will have a serial number.
The state MAY choose to re-vin the vehicle, in MN this...
It's one thing when a state won't allow them to be registered (or even transferred in). I hate it, but I "understand". It's a completely different thing to revoke registration of vehicles that were registered (without fraud). To me this is worse than unfair, it's really taking the value out...
Thanks for the TB. Am I blind though, is there something that indicates what the colors are 1, 2, 3, etc for the various camo colors? I.e. woods vs desert vs ....
Ok, got a new button. Button now checks out electrically, but still doesn't work. After consulting the parts manual (for about the 5th time), TM-9-2320-280-24P-1 Figure 68. I just realized, the bushing (part 10) is missing. So even though the new button works, it isn't getting ground...
The problem was the switch on the steering wheel. There is ground to the nut in the center, I connected the wire to that and horn went off.
Doing a voltage check between the "ground" side of the horn (with +24V connected), I got 22V. So that pretty much covers the resistance of the unit.
thanks, I'll start with the 24V check on the horn, then move up to the column switch. (Need to replace an ABS sensor on my jeep first.. ARGH.. I just wanna work on the HMMWV.)
There is no power to the 24V line unless the lights are on.
I've had no horn since I bought the rig, and as I said, best I can tell it's not getting ground (-), but is getting 24V.
Was wondering if someone had a point to diagnosing what might be wrong with the horn on my M998.
I looked in the service manuals and didn't see any flow charts on checking the horn wiring.
So far, I've checked AT the horn. I've got 24V where I should. The other line has no voltage (or -). I...
I tried a 3/32" clutch cable, went to what felt like the first bend and stopped moving.. (from both sides).. Ya, mine is either damaged, or so full nothing wants to drill into the packed in dirt/debris.
As for how water gets in, from the hood area basically.. just runs down onto the top of the...
