Ok,after reading all the posts in this thread,and having owned a Deuce for about 10 years and having totally rebuilt the present engine in it,PLUS having been a Class 8 diesel technician for about 12 years,I can offer this advice/expierence.

Ok WM,I have a few answers for ya in sequence,
15W40 or automotive power steering fluid will both work OK
Between 8 and 10 gallons,depending on whether or not it has a heater(remember to use a coolant additive to protect from IRON WORMS)

To actually increase the injection pressure you would have to shim or otherwise increase the spring tension on each individual injector.I beliexe the pop off press on the LDT in a deuce is between 2250 to 2300 psi. But you must have the correct test stand to properly set pressures for each injector.

Welcome Kenny,not too many of us in WNC,but the number is rising every day!! The monthly meeting is held at the Golden Corral in Hickory on the second Saturday of every month,you don't have to drive an MV to it. I'm about 45 minutes west of you in Morganton.
Post trip report, After checking and calculating I got 7.15 mpg on the trip down and back. Total mileage round trip was 637 miles with 89 gal of fuel burned.6 hrs total down and 6 1/2 hrs back.

Whew,Just got home from the GA rally,I had a blast,the weather cooperated after a short belt of rain on Fri.The trail ride on Fri night was,to say the least,MUDDY.Only 1 truck got stuck,I just about ran over 4 or 5 people with the M54(too much power) but all in all definetly a good weekend.But...
