Get the trans oil warmed up, drain it and refill it. I had a deuce that would not down shift well (not that you really should in a multi) but doing a oil change took care of some quirky shifing problems.
Thanks for the heads up on the pump.............Yes I was going to make new hoses using the old fittings. I am a aircraft mechanic. Use Aeroquip fittings all the time.
I got to ride in the tractor. A 2012 Freightliner with 4,200 miles on it. It sure beat my M-52A2. I did laugh as it gets the same fuel milage as the 52 but at 60 MPH.
I really fell in love with the comfort of the seat:D
Ha, they were my first call anyways :)
Yes I checked the tank, its full. I have another pump that I got years ago as Ive always suspected it. I am sure most MV owners would probably look at this thing and say just part it out and scrap it and get another one. In recent days I have...
I need to pull the cab anyways so going through the system will be just another line on the "to do" list. I will say, I am not looking forward to removing the steering wheel.
Thanks ron,
It never worked when I got it running. Now that its back running and moving under its own power so I could get it moved 50 mi from where I kept it for the last 10 yrs. The steering is even worse now. I believe the years of rain and snow has migrated its way down the steering...
Ron,
When you filled the system back up, what did you use for fluid. Ive heard OE10, Hyd oil and ATF.
While I am at it, I am going to build up a bunch of new hoses as I need to replace the ones on my M-52. They are starting to look pretty dry.
Sweet, I will check it out tomorrow and see what I got. The M-62 I have was upgraded to the later steering and OMG it is SWEET!!!! spoils the **** out of me when I move it around. I have thought about upgrading the M-54 but I have talked myself out of it. I got enough to do.
If I took pics of the Rossi system could you tell me which side is the pressure line?? I just want to make sure that its the pump is working before I pull the entire column. My IP is coming out at some point so it will be a no brainer to pull the pump if its bad.
Well that sucks to hear that the M-51 will get the torch. That is the VERY NEXT vehicle on my list so ive been sniffing around. Sadly you are way too far south to make it work for me.
I had thought about asking the moderators of G.503 to make a G744 section since I am such a fan. I certinly do believe that a thread about these trucks would quickly get washed under the pages due to the recent releases of the 900 series.
CSM, if there is anything I can help you with, feel free.
Agree with Wes, If you can do both in one shot, go for it. A dolly can happen, make sure the diff is topped off and do it but IF it were me and they both need restoration. Pull the axle shafts. For the 151, those u joints are the weakpoint and if you want a daily driver, your going to...
