Great news Mark! Glad to hear the trip went smoothly. I had a bit of a MV journey today myself as my family and I joined the MV owners club (see signature for a clue). Don't want to hijack your thread, so you can link over to my recovery thread here...
My wife has not driven it yet. She was feeling kind of under the weather, so she snapped some shots of the kids and I then went in to get some allergy medicine. Also, the power was out when we got home, so I got the 802a out and powered up the house so she could have A/C and lights. I hope to...
Well, I finally brought home our family's first MV. We found a pristine LMTV for sale in AL and embarked on the recovery journey today. The previous owner sent us on our way with an already titled vehicle and a half tank of diesel. Oh, the price was right too. [thumbzup] My wife ran tail...
You may also want to try Plan B Supply. They are a member here on SS. They are located in Utah, so shipping may be more of an issue. They have a decent website and YouTube channel.
Gee Mark, sorry to hear this. I hope you are able to get towed somewhere safe! Certainly something to keep on the checklist. Let us know how it turns out.
All facts well understood and accepted. I'm just saddened to think my son may not have the same opportunities to purchase old green/tan iron when he is my age. Future generations may ultimately rely on those of us who where able to buy and restore MV's today for their rolling stock.
That brings up an interesting question. Once we get to replacing newer armored variants, will there even be any sold? It doesn't seem anyone wants civilians to have any armor. With all the newer MV's coming out armored, will we even be able to buy any MV's in 20 or 30 years? If current practices...
I test drove one earlier this week Mark, and I feel the same way. I'm trying to figure out how to sell my wife on the idea...
Guys, did I mention I have more HMMWV tachometers for sale??? I'm trying to turn them into a truck I can drive! [thumbzup]
Standard US residential electric service is supposed to be 60 Hz. While some minor fluctuations are to be expected for various reasons, most electronics and such do not like too much greater or less. I would be surprised if 63 is even in range for some items. I would regulate your throttle down...
Beyond weight capacities, it is also important to remember CG. Center of gravity on a truck with a bed this high of the ground is much different than the relatively low-riding civvy haulers. They are set up to run on pavement, while the LMTV and other MV's are capable of both on and off road...
You also may want to scan the classified ads here. Lots of good green iron can be had for your budget or under! You'll know you are getting a good MV from another SS member.
+1 on retaining some form of the beadlock grigeltube. I've read where many who know these trucks have advised against running without!
