    1009 and 1008 towing capacities

I have never heard it called a 5/8 ton. Only a 3/4 ton and that is pushing it. I did tow my M103 home from OH with mine. Good enough to get it home but I would not haul it everyday like that. The M103 had the gensets on it also.

MEP-16 Starter and associated parts installation

My ford tractor has a negative trigger solenoid. Western snowplow systems use them to to activate the pump motor. They get the + from one side of the solenoid and the negative input trips the solenoid. This may be a similar arrangement.

    Frustrating 809-series sprag!

My main point was that you would have 6x6 in all forward gears not just 1st. I might have been confusing it with the deuce. You must go through R and 1st to activate the proper sprag. It seemed to make sense for the deuce. There are two sprags not just one. The deuce is activated by linkage and...

    Frustrating 809-series sprag!

RE: looks very familiar!!! Unless I am horribly wrong you do have 6x6 in all gears. You just have to make sure you move through 1st gear first after being in reverse. In other words you bank the truck up and get stuck. You then want to go forward. First put the truck in 1st gear to get the...

    Lav-25 spotted the other day.

They look like it compared to the truck rims. I assume the truck rims are 20".

    Question on tactical sign

RE: Re: RE: Sign We brushed ours on and they were pretty sloppy. We did it in the middle of the desert.

    A few pics and comments...

The gauge looks like it is mounted to high or is loose. You should be able to see the d and the c on the meter. It may be the angle of the pic but compared the other gauges it looks off. As to how to fix it. I don't know other than keeping an eye on it. Someone else may be able to tell you how...

Is this the correct jack for an M1009?

Here are the pics. I was wrong about the jack handle mounting to the rear wheel house. It actual mounts to the cover for the filler neck. I hope these pics work out ok. I am in the process of replacing my floor pans so the seats are out.

    Question on tactical sign

RE: Sign We just painted them on during the First Gulf war and we put panel markers on the top of our trucks to avoid friendly fire. They denoted a coalition vehicle and were not IR or anything else special back then. I bet his truck is just regular paint and is one of the trucks sent with the...

    asbestos danger?

I had a shop teacher die from lung cancer from asbestos exposure over the years. I would rather be safe then have it accumulating in my lungs. I also use the respirator when spraying paint. I use it pretty often.

    Anything for parts in/near Wisconsin?

Did you get it from the GSA auction in Indiana from about a month ago? Just wondering.

    asbestos danger?

Asbestos in vehicles is not just limited to the cucv. Brakes and clutches contain asbestos as well. The military puts all kinds in information in there to scare you. Did you know that night sights on firearms are radioactive? They are but they will not kill you. The small amount of asbestos...

    A few pics and comments...

What is the vise grip holding under the hood near the master cylinder? I also noticed that the alt gauge looks funny. Check it out. A lot of them have taken out the instrument clusters as they were not shunted and all the electrical system runs through the gauge and the cluster. That is except...

    GL Trouble

Robyn, I went reading up the other day on obtaining an SF-97. Before I thought there was a one year time limit on requesting the SF-97 and I thought it was printed on the SF-97 request form. Now when I look I can find no reference to the one year time limit. Is there still a time limit in...

    GL purchessing

Re: RE: GL purchessing Sales tax is charged if you do not have a sales tax license. Some states will look at the invoice and apply any tax you paid to the tax due for the state. If you paid more you are just out. If you paid less then they will want the difference. Alabama may be different but...
