Stays running with pink wire removed

I had the same thing happen with a new pump a few years ago. Slight burr on the solenoid shaft. Pull the hose and the wires off the cover. Once you get the 3 screws out, the cover will probably move itself just a bit toward the front of the engine. Pick it up. Just put the new one on the...

    CUCV oil pump acting funny??

I drove the M715 today. Cold idle rpm 40-42 psi. Fully warmed up engine idle rpm 35-37. Driving at around 2000 rpm with a warmed up engine was 50-55 psi.

    New M1008 - Indiana

Your correct about that truck being kind of high. I think we loaded or unloaded about 500 NDT's out of it one night at the Rally in 2007. Unless you just have to have tan paint. I would advise against it. I painted a truck that color a few years ago and it drove me nuts. You can't see where you...

    Tire valve question

The brass bolt on ones are much better. Keep them.

    CUCV oil pump acting funny??

I will have to look on my M715 which has a 6.2 and a mechanical oil psi gauge. I think I cruise at 45-50 psi and idle around 25-30 psi. The TM for the 6.2 gives what psi should be seen. I really think you have an electrical problem. But, verify you have oil psi first. Follow the steps in...

    knocking noise

I had a loose torque converter bolt. It only made noise when I gunned it hard from a standing stop while turning left. I don't know how to explain that. However, you are correct that it should be in time with rpm. Are your lock out hubs unlocked? Maybe a front u-joint is spinning and bad...

    knocking noise

Check the easy stuff first. Motor mounts, shifter linkage rubbing anything, transmission fill tube and vacuum tube rubbing, leaf spring ends, leaf spring center pins, t-case cross member and mount. Plus the big one that every CUCV seems to have. Torque converter bolts along with a possible...

    CUCV oil pump acting funny??

My suggestion is to finish what you started to do a few months ago. Put a mechanical gauge on there so you know what is happening. Once you figure out your oil pressure is ok. You will need to go tracing wires, cleaning the big through the firewall plug behind the fuse panel, cleaning the...

    Strange thump/pop in rear

When you let off the power and do anything besides exactly straight, the locker will unlock. You are probably just hearing the locker lock back up again. I tell people riding with me in the Detroil Lockered M715 "it is just the locker saying hello." They usually have big bug eyes after the noise.

    Thank you.

    Southern CUCV M1009 with A/C

Nice install. I would be interested in the Vintage Air part number of the kit. I was only aware of Nostalgia air Products making a bolt on CUCV set of brackets and pulleys until this thread. Thanks.

    New M1009 Owner!

I would suggest what the others have already written. Plus to answer your question on speed. I always got the best miles per gallon at speeds slower than 62 mph gps speed with the 31 inch tall tires on mine. The truck was designed to run at 55 mph which was the national speed limit when it...

    m1009 rear seat question

The stock prop rod had an angle iron type mount that bolted with two screws to the floor. About 4 inches rear of the passenger side rear seat belt mount infront of the tire well.

M1009 aka RED project under way

He turns 15 today and we will get his learners permit tomorrow. RED is going to get driven some to shake all the bugs out soon.

M1009 aka RED project under way

I ordered the console lock. It showed up today and is not the correct part for those consoles. Totally different than what goes there. It is probably the part for the older style console.

    M1008 No start. Starter smoke.

Rebuilding it yourself might be a better option. Search for Delco 27MT rebuild kits and you will find a bunch out there. 28MT if you have the redux version. Make sure you buy 24 volt brushes though. Everything else is the same as 12 volt. I did one a few months ago and I think it was less...

    M1009: Electrical issues (12v conversion)

That is for wiring. Mechanically, again going from memory: New hose from vacuum pump to the vacuum control valve on the side of the IP. New hose from the vacuum control valve to the modulator on the side of the transmission. There is metal tubing some of the way between the pump and the...

M1009 aka RED project under way

Yes, that was him Chris. He is off at football practice right now. Thanks for the part number Joe. I hadn't been able to find that before. He is mighty proud of how the console came out. It was some other odd color and he was going to paint it to match the rest of the interior, got creative...
