I've been studying this stuff for a while. I'm going with durabak only because they have a color that matches my 686A CARC the best. Gatorgrip also has colored roll ons. If you only want black, I'd suggest Walmart. They have dupli-color and Rino for the cheapest prices I've seen. I don't...
I found similar damage to some and more severe to others. I chose to replace ALL bearings and races. I also replaced ALL wheel cylinders. If I'm gonna go down this far I might as well. Regarding the slightly bent pins, I have the same thing. Shouldn't be an issue.
Anyone know what's going on with Rod Shaver and http://www.mvdataplates.com
Phones going unanswered. Can't seem to get through. If someone else knows a source where I can get a complete set for my M35A2 please let me know.
I thought the same thing but I spoke to a couple of mechanics and a bendix brakes engineer and they told me basically the same thing. You are leaching out the oil...nothing more.
I noticed the lights as well. I just bought a NOS tank headlight to put on my M35A3 bumper. It has a low and high beam. I'd like to find a toggle switch for the dash for on/highbeam and off. Any ideas?
My brake shoes with the leaks were pretty oily. I soaked them in mineral spirits for about 4 days. It leached the oil out of the pads...seem to be fine now. I started using brake cleaner but I kept getting oil out of the shoes. The soaking seemed to do the trick...didn't harm anything either.
I've noticed that as i'm restoring the deuce, everything I take off/out ends up getting this level of detail. No one is going to see the battery box as I'm goin' down the road but it would just bug the hell out of me knowing it was in that condition.
Regarding the taking of orders...i'm no...
I re-built both rear axles including bearings, cups etc. It was very straight forward. Search the forum and you will find ALL the info you need. Bunkerofdoom.com has a nice set of instructions and pics.
Good luck,
I posted earlier that I was going to Colemans during a trip to PA. I got there hoping to buy some nice Green stuff for my Deuce. When I saw Tom, he told me I was a couple of weeks too late. They cut up the remaining 4 parts dueces
He told me the only dueces left were from someone else...
Good luck with this one. I searched a bunch when I lived in L.A. and pickins' were scarce. I found a guy with a patch of dirt in the valley who was kinda reasonable.
Before moving, I was going to keep then at my company in the back warehouse. Now that I moved to Temecula and am sittin' on 5...
I'm making a gun truck model and I want to put the right bumper and hood markings. I have several pics but i'm a bit confused.
The gun truck was in the 523rd trans.
the drivers side bumper marking is 523T 214
the passenger side seems to show 25GP 54T
The hood markings seem to be 05829169
