"cranky guys who knew every car from front to back"...you got that right. My experience was cool guys who loved to talk about cars and know every car from front to back. Man those were the days...That's why I love this site! Reminds me of old times.
The wife just pointed out a 1HP, 3 Gal, 125psi is on sale tomorrow @ sears regular price $125 on sale for $80.
Is this big enough to paint my deuce? What about running a sand blaster?
JDT,
I stopped at the Sherwin Williams automotive paint store yesterday to discuss the idea of military paint. There seems to be an issue making flat paint. I don't think I want semi-gloss desert tan. I may be wrong but I'd hate to have paint made then find out it is too shiny. I will...
I started sandblasting parts of my duece and I also find it time consuming. I started to sand it using an electric sander. Would I be substantially better off using an DA air sander or is my electric vibratory sander going to get the same job done?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to put either one on the cab floor. I like the idea of chip guard because I can paint over it. I saw the recent thread using bed liner but I don't it comes in desert tan.
Who's done what?
I read comments on other MV sites regarding the fading issue with Aervoe, but I trust and wanted my SS folks opinions. Unless some else makes a comperable paint locally, it looks like I'll be spending some $$$ sending it from Texas. "Rapco". Hey Cali folk, any suggestions on local paint? I'm...
from Ontario here are my suggestions but I'd call first to see what they have.

RE: Re: RE: Pics of my singled 5-ton with 16-20
Now that's what I'm takin' about. I was just drooling over a 5 ton on G.L. and thought "just finish your first project"...now you got me all worked up again.
Looks good. You got me thinking about putting spray-in bed liner on my cab floor as well. Can you paint over it or just settle with the color it comes in?
Hey all.
Well I troubleshot the horn and found the wire coming out of the steering column to be broken. I cut, spliced and heat shrunk to repair. Any suggestions on how to keep the wire from getting twisted up and broken again?
Dj,
I'm in Temecula right now. I also stay in L.A. A day in the dirt sounds good. We should go to Anza and/or surrounding areas to have more room to play.
Will,
Come on down. Remember theres a guy down the road with 40 acres who needs us to create some dirt bike trails for him using the deuces.[thumbzup]
Don't forget me regarding the engine scoop.
Yea, mine is a Barstow truck as well. Big dent in bed and vecro all over it. The dent is from being forklifted. The velcro is because they put targets on it and shot at it with lasers.
I'm gonna cut and weld a new piece to repair the dent. I'm gonna try to heat and bend back a good sized...
I picked this place when I transfered down specifically for the seclusion. As I'm haulin' ass down the road I got nothing but thumbs up and waves!
You guys coming down for some off roadin' and grillin' sounds like a good idea. I'll supply the cow!
I'll be off to the the title office with...
Went thru the one hot axle, loosened the brakes, re-bled the brakes (much better). Time for some road work. The axle is still a bit hotter than the other 3 rears but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be ok. It coasts nicely w/o the wheels.
I heard differently regarding the grease. I was instructed by a couple of veteran deuce owners to fill the cavity 1/2 full with good drum grease like Staylube. As the hub heats up the grease will keep the bearings lubricated. I just finished rebuilding both rear axles to include seals, brgs...
