Participants wanted for So Cal Parade

Gary, like Jon, mine is far from parade ready. Runs great, newly rebuilt axles as everyone knows, but paint is pretty sucky. Some parts tan, camo hood, tailgate and bumper. ugly rims. If all of this is ok, i'd say i'm in! Lemme know. BTW, i've got quite a bit of experience regarding the...

    axle and brake questions

Thanks Jon, When I built CNC machines we would rebuild lathes with similar tapered roller bearings. After fulling tightening them down, you would back off the nut and give the spindle a good WHACK both into and out of the gearbox. This would essentially loosen the bearings from the...

    axle and brake questions

Hum...loose bearing hanging up on a burr... Well, I did notice more drag on this wheel drum than the others. Once she's apart, i'll check the bearings and the brake pads again. maybe i need to keep these pads a bit loser than the others. I don't have a power bleeder so I'm back to soldier A...

    axle and brake questions

Recovry, Yea, the springs are there. I just shot the pic after cleaning her up. I adjusted the top and bottom adjusters. I used .010" and .020" shim at per the TM. I did think that wheel drug a bit when turned (before putting on the tires) but I re-adjusted the brgs 2X! Should I loosen it a...

    axle and brake questions

I just finished rebuilding the rear axles. New seals, brgs, races, wheel cylinders etc. I also re-adjusted the rear brakes. I had drivers side seals failed so I had to clean the S#@%T out of them to get all the grease and oil off. Questions 1) Do I have to have the truck running to properly...

Since I had two inner rear axle leaks and one smoking brake I decided to disassemble both rear axles, both sides to determine my shopping list. I've got the drums off...I found several bad outer seals, some ruined bearings and toasted bearing caps...Whoopie!!! :( ...The brake shoes look good...

    different door hinges?

Re: RE: different door hinges? So would removing the gunring leg allow the door to close properly? If so, someone must have done a modification to allow the gunring leg and improve the door's function?

    different door hinges?

My original problem is that the passenger door doesn't close easily. It looks like the gap between the door and cab, at the hinges, is larger on the passenger side. You really have to slam the door. So I thought the hinges may be bent out causing this. Upon inspection I see two different...

    what about dry ice blasting?

I was hoping someone is renting the units...that'd be nice.

    what about dry ice blasting?

I heard that sandblasting can get sand in places you don't want(axle pumpkins, etc). Walnut shells are an option but now I'm hearing about dry ice. Any comments? I'd love to blast my deuce completely(tons of paint layers) so I'm fishing for suggestions/comments. Thanks,
