I'm not trying to turn Mah Deuce into a dragster, but I've got a fresh LDS sitting in a crate and was planning on re-torquing the rod-ends and mains anyway before I install it. Not knowing the history of a rebuilt engine like this (or any of the engines in our trucks), my question is - why NOT...
That's just about my favorite tire size ever, especially for smaller/lighter trucks. 255/85/61's are also great. Good choice on the BFG AT's too. Excellent tires.
Everything is breakable, and these are big heavy trucks. Might also want to post on pirate4x4, where a lot of guys are replacing the stock diffs with lockers.
Cool. Please post some more pics and info so we can see how you did it. Looks like you just bolted some sort of an adapter to the wheel? But I thought the opening in a 10-hole wheel wasn't large enough to fit the 6-lug pattern inside of without boring it out?

I'd like to be able to use this with a winch, but can't foresee many occasions when I might need to have a double-pulley attached to my bumper. Much more likely that I'll just use one pulley attached to whatever I'm pulling from. Would also like to hang it from the gin-poles I'm building out of...
No idea. I just got this with a big pile of mil surplus parts from that yard I posted about a while ago, that was getting cleared-out. Looks like it's set-up to be used with a clevis or something, but I don't have any idea what I've got here. Was hoping it would be a useful winching accessory.
Yes, both sides open up quickly/easily and without any tools. The first two pictures show a tab that's bent over 90-degrees. If you align that tab with the slot (perpendicular to a pulling load), that allows the gate to be opened.
