One member here (3000gt, I believe) found a set of four bucket seats at a junk yard for $100. I really like the seats pictured above, but for the price I may be hitting the junk yard when I need a set!
With one hard door... That may be worth enough to pay for your repairs and some soft doors! ;) Maybe there are a couple more stashed in the bed. Congrats on the purchase!
I have no affiliation, but Rounders Logistics also has good rates and reviews here on SS. They have a thread in the "Transportation" forum. I used their estimator link and did a sample m998 transport for 500 miles and it was well below what I thought it would be. I am pretty cost conscious, but...
Sodamo,
The tip of the exhaust pipe on the unit has standard pipe threads for this very purpose. I am away from home in a hotel, so I can't measure mine for you, but it should be a fairly easy modification for your installation.
PDF from AM General
I have a PDF from AM General showing tach signal attachment to the alternator. For some reason, I can only upload page one of the 2-page PDF to my photos. PM me your email address and I'll send you a copy.
EDIT: got them separated. let me know if you still want an emailed...
I would ask for names and immediately head out to the one that gives you a favorable answer. Once something is issued on "State" paper, it would be hard for them to rescind.
What a great ending to a potentially frustrating trip! I'm all over parts of TN, AL, KY & MS for work. I hope to also be able to help when there is a need.
Welcome aboard csmitty. I recovered my unit from Warner Robins. It sounds like yours will start up pretty easily. Glad to hear you got one in decent shape. Mine was a tier 2 reset with only 134 hours. It was as simple as batteries, fuel, an oil change and new coolant. They are really interesting...
Would an alignment shop even have specs in their system for a military HMMWV? I'm guessing they would have to use the AM General Hummer specs. Who knows if that would be the same?
I can just see the "monkey wrench" alignment tech pulling an M998 around the parking lot and on the rack. Selfie's...
Would it be possible to cut off all the bracketry on that one seat and let it essentially sit flat on top of the battery box? Please post photos as you get them installed!
Lot is in my possession now. Photos and more information available here:

I'm fairly new to SS and have already had the privilege to speak with GR on the phone. After reading this thread, I now know how fortunate I truly was! Maybe I'll see you at Groveport Monday.
Was there a need to idle the engine up while parked to provide adequate power for certain accessories associated with the ambulance? I could see a tach and a throttle lock being used for that purpose.
I should be there Monday around 0700 monkeyboyarmy. I have a relatively small lot, so I'll be in the white VW Sportwagen. LOL. I'll stick out like a sore thumb with all the heavy duty vehicles around! Can't argue with 40mpg though.
Welcome from TN. I'm a new member myself. I am looking to become a HMMWV club member someday. Please share your experiences and victories as you move through the recovery process and getting your unit up and running.
Very nice work hmmwv1! I have been wondering how these hook up. Great work on the mount too.
FYI I'm picking up an auction lot of GL parts soon that contains a bunch of these tachs. I'll have them listed in the parts FS forum next week. Anyone needing one can PM me.
Hammock,
Nice score! I too was looking, but have invested dollars elsewhere that need to be freed up. I used a uhaul motorcycle trailer for my recovery. GL loaded with a forklift, but I had no such equipment at home. We slid the 802A down the metal mesh ramp onto a 1200 lb rated flat wood cart...
It's my second GL auction purchase, and I'm excited to get my trinkets sorted out and up for sale. I'm really working towards a MV and this purchase is a way to help fund the MV.
I'll probably check into shipping, then wait for my appointment to roll around and travel there myself.
