I received the NOS (unopened box) toolkit ( 57K0268 ) today. I can 100% confirm it comes with the 57K0267 kit inside the box.
It looks to me like it has pretty much all of the tools you would ever need, except for the rear caliper retraction tool. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase for...
I just found a reference with a packing list for 57K0266. It appears that it is everything in 57K0268 (which appears to have everything from 57K0267), plus a bunch of extra tools for working on the engine, transmission and transfer case. (I'm not sure it has a diff spreader or anything in it.)
Ya, I avoided these listings because the pictures didn't seem to match other kits I found. The ones I saw from people I'd bought parts from already seemed to show the 267 kit was about 1/2 of the stuff in the 268 kit.. but what do I know? Maybe I just wasted $200 (hope not)
Edit: I just found...
The one I ordered looks like an actual 57k0268.
Ya, I got one from a listing with a ton of pictures. So I'm pretty confident in the tools in that particular set. Should show up later this week and I'll inventory it and will try to post a listing of what was in it.
For me it was the tack...
From looking at the service manual, I see there are three main toolkits that seem to be referenced 57K0266, 57K0267 and 57K0268. It's unclear to me what the difference is though. The service manual seems to make it sound like 266, 267 and 268 contain different tools, but the ebay lists seem to...
86humv thanks for the picture. I have the bracket, but the springs are both missing. So this makes it pretty clear I just need to get the springs, drill out the old rivets and replace them.
I just replaced a non-functional dash gauge with the same one. I'm pretty sure the previous owner of the vehicle mismatched the sending unit and the gauge, so now I need to correct that.
I just looked at the pictures I took of the back of the engine (inside the cab), the oil pressure sender looks exactly like the 60 PSI units I see on ebay. Argh, I replaced the dead 0-120 PSI gauge with a new one, but the sending unit never matched.... so a previous owner must have put in the...
Hmm I will definitely need to check it’s the right sender, but I’m suspecting more and more the problem is the sender.
I ordered the big Humvee service kit with all of the tools and gauges. Hopefully it has a pressure gauge that can be used or I’ll pick one up…
Brand new gauge, but existing sensing unit. I’ll get a mechanical gauge and test it properly. I’m assuming it’s fine, and probably the sender right now. Crossing my fingers!
I finally replaced the not-working oil pressure gauge with a new one. And I'm now getting a reading.
Cold idle, between 30-60.
Warm idle, 30
0-30 MPH - 30-60
50 MPH - 100-120
55-60 MPH - over 120
The numbers at 50 and above seem high to me, but I have no frame of reference for this engine...
I think I just answered my own question. There is supposed to be some sort of 'lock spring' behind each place where they turn. And of course, I don't appear to have either.
I think the part I am talking about is "#5" in figure 208. "Engine Access Cover Assembly...." in
TM 9-2320-280-24P-1...
I noticed the other day that the turnlock fasteners were not holding the engine cover in place. I'm not sure why this would be, anyone more familiar with how it should be holding?
(These are the top two fasteners on the engine cover, they look like the same fasteners used to hold the rear seat...
One other thing, looking through the manual, I don't see anything on bleeding the hose to the fan clutch after it's been replaced. Is anyone aware of a necessary procedure there, or will it happen on it's own?
The hose from the Cadillac valve fitting to the fitting on the fan cowl needs to be replaced. But I don't see anywhere that specifies any type or size. Does anyone happen to know what type of hose I should get? (I assume it's a fairly standard automotive part I can just go to O'Reilly and...
As quoted by a person above. The brake pads seem to be sticking. In the past when I've encountered that it's because when the parking brake releases it doesn't actually fully retract like it should (same possibly with the hydraulic cylinder). I was assuming this is the same issue. The guide...
After a lot more research.. front/rear pads and rotors are the same. Looks to be fairly inexpensive at standard auto parts places.
The rear calipers (remanufactured) at the same places, for the 1992 Hummer H1 run about $235 (after a $50 core fee). So that is a bunch cheaper then most places...
