    Brake calipers and pads

Thanks, so 10"/10k is what I'm looking for. That is a massive help. My hope was to get a NOS (or new) set for around $600-$700, then afterwards rebuild the current set. That way I have a spare.

    Brake calipers and pads

My rear brakes are pretty much shot, almost no pad left and I think the rear calipers are sticking (I can hear them catch when I reverse). I've been looking and I see different calipers on different sites, as well as different pads.. some say 10k, 12k, etc.. I've got a 1988 M998, never been...

    Tire shop in Southern Minnesota

Thanks, I've sent them an email. Hopefully they have some sort of suggestion.

    Tire shop in Southern Minnesota

I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a tire shop somewhere south of the MN river down to the Faribault or over toward Mankato that can handle the 2 piece HMMWV wheels. I get a nasty 'bounce' starting at about 53 MPH, and the normal shops I'd go to don't want to touch the two piece rims.

How do you replace the boots on the electrical connections?

Thanks for the information. I was able to replace the boots on the 6 headlight connectors today while preserving the existing wiring and connector ends which were just fine. Of the 6 I swapped, one will completely full of debris inside, so I'm glad I did this. Next step would have been water...

Water in engine valley (6.5L, no turbo)

Ya, that's how I tried the air. I couldn't get a good seal on the output pipe though (couldn't get the air nozzle to fit in there with the air hose attached). Currently looking to see if I can find a different blower attachment that might make this easier in the future. (I can pretty much...

Water in engine valley (6.5L, no turbo)

Tried compressed air (after drying out the valley) no luck.. I did find a long flexible pipe cleaning brush on amazon. Lets hope it's thin enough wire for the squished part of the tub, I'm sure that is where it's blocked. Since I'm not sure about sharing links here to places like amazon, just...

Water in engine valley (6.5L, no turbo)

lol I think I'll consider vacuuming the water out of the valley daily instead of pulling the transmission.. :) I'll try to find some pipe cleaners, all I have are those made for school art projects, the wire in them isn't stiff enough it just folds back on itself until it gets stuck.

Water in engine valley (6.5L, no turbo)

With that info, I found the drain hole on both the valley and above and behind the oil filter like you mentioned. I tried shoving some wire I had up there and I definitely cleared out some crud, but it eventually gets stuck, same with coming from the valley side. (The valley side was plugged...

Water in engine valley (6.5L, no turbo)

I was working through some faults on my vehicle and opened up the cab side engine cover. Giving me a great look at the engine in the process. I noticed the engine valley is full of standing water. (we just had a lot of rain here). I was wondering is this normal? Is there a blocked drain...

How do you replace the boots on the electrical connections?

Without straying too far from my original question... On some former projects we used to call similar connections "male connectors with connector condoms". Then the others were just female connectors. Anyway, now that I know the terminology for the military Packard? connectors is backwards of...

How do you replace the boots on the electrical connections?

Wow, https://amerline.com/products/ordnance-connectors/ms-single-wire/ that helps me understand a lot more. It's funny, I'd say the male/female are 'backwards' from every other wiring I've ever done. But hey, if the 'innie' is the male plug, so be it. :) Does anyone happen to know if the...

How do you replace the boots on the electrical connections?

I didn't realize that. The main one I feel I need to replace are the ones under the hood connecting to the lights. But I suspect I've got others I'll need to replace as well. Other then the main battery/starter/generator wiring, are there different size wiring in the M998 harness? Looking at...

How do you replace the boots on the electrical connections?

I've been starting to go over my new, to me, M998. One thing I've noticed, a lot of the boots around the electrical connectors are cracked. (The wires and the pin and socks seem to be just fine, it's only the boots.) Can the boot be replaced without having to remove the pin from wiring? Is...

    mgFray's HMMWV from Minnesota

Thanks for the welcome. The middle one is a '67 Jeepster Roadster. I had a lot of fun rebuilding it (except for the motor I rebuilt it all). And I even kept the original paint! :ROFLMAO: The grease and fluids is an excellent suggestion. Prior to buying it, the dealer I got it from went...

    mgFray's HMMWV from Minnesota

I'm new to Military Vehicles, but I've always wanted a Humvee since I first saw them in the 90's. (My ex was in the Army Reserves, she drove a regular M998 and Ambulance model.) Finally got a chance to buy a titled, street legal one and jumped on it. Hopefully with her help, the motor pool...

    HMMWV Insurance help please

I just went through this on a 1988 M998. American Family could not insure it. Their system and unwriting department said if the title doesn't show 17 digits, it's a no-go. My agent went to Progressive, and progressive just needs proof of an 'on-road legal' title, and then no problem. They...
