There was a guy on this list who was brokering an M60 (not sure the exact model) for a customer. I believe he wanted near $500,000 for it...or maybe it was $750,000. Either way, it was more than I could spend. I did not even get far enough to find out IF he had papers. I would assume he did...
I heard a while back that Oshkosh got a contract to rebuild them. I can't remember where I heard that, but it might have been EMMADDO22 (Mark). I saw a pic of a pilot model and it looked pretty cool. From what I was told, they will get a newer motor and a newer Allison transmission among many...
The quick answers are YES and YES. Yes, they are out there and yes the military is holding onto them for a while longer. Some trickle out, but, as AVENGEUSA stated, they tend to bring good money. If the truck is nice enough where you would want it, you will pay for it. I like the M939 series...
Ferro has some GREAT advice for you! I agree...try to inspect whatever truck you are bidding on. Ft. Meade does not typically have 10+ M35A2s on a given auction. Figure you will have 3-7 or so to choose from. Now, the bad part...trucks at Ft. Meade tend to bring a premium. I am not sure why...
Dave is a stand-up guy and I can vouch for the quality of that truck.
(Dave: I can't believe you are parting with it. Everytime I asked, you said it was your baby!)
That is a 20 foot cargo bed. I have one more truck if anyone wants it.
Jeff, I am happy that you are enjoying the truck. It looks great! I hope it was everything I said it was!
Very few people have horded like I have over the years. With that said, I keep a bare minimum on hand ! I used to have a whole garage filled with spare parts. I was sitting around admiring my shelves of NOS or nice used parts and started thinking about how much $$$ I had sitting there. My...
One thing to keep in mind and this probably goes without saying, but you might get a good transmission or a piece of junk. I bought this same tranmission for one of my M925A2s (the one that came without a motor or transmission) about 1-1/2 years ago and only got 125 miles out of it! I ended up...
There is no way in h*** that you will have to pay $7K for a deuce...unless, maybe, that includes shipping, too or you are getting some type of guarantee from a dealer like Winslow or Dave Newman. A really nice M35A2 w/w used to bring that much, but that was before GL. Anyway, you should be able...
Don't do it. Think about it this way. You want to save money, but, if you get into an accident or have some other problem, you will spend more money than you would have on shipping the wrecker.
Great job. You should be applauded for tracking down the OEM for the side boards. I love your work and I think it is worthy of a true restoration.
Perhaps, you thought of this...you can buy complete fiberglass troop seats for $150 per side. I have purchased over 10 sets over the past decade...
I second Ernie's post. If you check the manual, the M1009 is not supposed to pull an M101. That does not stop many people from doing so, however. Still, if you want a tow vehicle, buy a civilian truck. If you have to have a military tow vehicle, buy an M1008/M1028.
82ABNMP had it right with his post on another thread. Find a guy who is selling his personal truck as opposed to a guy who is buying and flipping. Your price range is right for a reasonable truck. PM me if you can't find anything and I'll steer you to someone with a truck.
