I am sure they are worth that amount in scrap. The problem is, by the time you find all the parts and put it back together, I bet you have $15K in it and you can buy a complete unit for that. I have owned two (M1015A1 and M548A1) and have paid that for them. I have actually seen them cheaper...
John Winslow (252-883-2509) has developed a kit to allow a 5 ton with a sprag to "free-wheel" so that the sprag is disengaged completly. This means that is OK to allow the truck to roll backwards in a forward gear and forward in reverse. It is not the same as having a lockout, but there is a...
Sorry for the length of time to reply... The number I gave for Terry is the one I used a month or so ago to speak with him. It should still be a good number. It is his shop number. I know he works late into the night. Perhaps, he gets to work late in the day or else you just caught him at a...
Jay, I am with ya buddy! I get off on seeing these trucks as they served in the military; they have a right to enjoy their trucks as they see fit. I read some of the mod threads and like to see the pics of the progress being made because I can respect craftsmanship, but it is not for me.
I did not mean my post as bash on the A3. I LIKE the A3s better than the A2s. I know...<gasp in horror>. I was only saying that it'll cut just like any truck will...suitable for bobbing if that is your thing. It is not mine, but that's why Baskin Robbins has so many flavors...to suit all of...
Bows for the dump trucks are rare. It is too bad most guys don't have troop seats for their trucks. I happen to have ten sets if anyone is interested. They are brand new and fiberglass. They would work perfectly with Ted's bows!:-D Shipping might be high, though, since they are oversized.
I agree with Wayne. It is better to get em hauled home. No risk. Admittedly, it costs more money, but you might still have a tractor (although it probably would have gone out eventually). With all that said, it still will be a successful recovery. Your trailer will be home and no one got...
I hate to see any truck cut up, but I think the A3 will make a good victim. Another guy I know in CA is doing the same thing, although he has not yet started. I will be interested to watch what the A3 bobbers bring once they are done. I was shocked that people paid more than nice deuce prices...
Any parts that are A3 specific are expensive and hard to find. The axle seals ARE NOT identical to those on an M35A2. I know because I had to replace the axle seals and was told that the A2 seals would work. Wrong. Call Terry in CA (619-670-4268). He has forgotten more than most of us know about...
Karl, beautiful truck and thanks for the pics. Am I remembering correctly that you wanted to sell the M215? I would hate to see her leave your fleet. That is a really nice truck to own and you did a heckuva job on the resto!
I have seen a few stay low. However, for the most part, you are going to spend about $8-9K before you are allowed to take your prize off of GL property and sometimes will still spend $10K+ (the prices that M16ty quotes do not factor in tax and the 10% bidder's fee). Now, add trucking and...
That M817 looked pretty cherry. I am a bit surprised as most trucks from Hawaii show some rust (or worse) unless they are kept inside. Even then, rust is almost inevitable.
