I agree with JP - patient stalking pays dividends.
If you're going the auction route, start watching and predicting sales price of the trucks. Look at every pic in hundreds of auctions so that anomalies stand out.
I stared at 5ton auctions so much that I could differentiate where a truck was...
Only one gear. On jackstands. At 1500rpm, well below the shift point.
Transmission doesn't explain the requiring ether to start.
Fuel problem explains all the symptoms. I've experienced these exact symptoms on more than one truck. It has always been a fuel problem. It has either been...
The advantages to getting one from a reseller/private sale are that you don't have to wait for the EUC, you can examine it and test drive it, and you benefit from their (presumably) greater knowledge.
Auctions are a great unknown, but nothing there is deliberately misrepresented. Private sale...
Transfer case - down is high, up is low, and there's a N in between.
Same speed in 1-5 that you're getting in 1 because you're in 1 either way.
I still say it's air entrainment in the fuel lines.
I went back and replaced the main draw bar pin with something easier to swap back and forth without tools. Makes flipping the lunette a 10second operation.
I chose the pin with the most taper at the point - makes it easier to thread through the shock.
Agreed, and further I'll say this -
If a DPF were a good idea it wouldn't need laws mandating its use and prohibiting its removal....
Clearly it isn't a good thing, thus it requires coercion to get used.
Somethings wrong. I've ran 14.00 super singles thousands of miles at 55-60psi without asymmetric wear.
Your asymmetric wear is from a different cause.
Your psi stencils were put on at the unit level, and are intended for the A0 trucks with G177s. Mistakenly put on your A2 truck.
They need to define "business day" as a day they're there.
In the past they've had a guy there for one 4 hour block of time one day per week, yet they count the days they aren't there as "business days" for purposes of late fees.
I picked up on day 9 (my count) in LA, paid $40 in late fees.
I stayed in a motel last night instead of driving home. I just got home a little while ago.
I could have driven last night, but it would have been a chore. Driving today in contrast was enjoyable.
Pic of the boot I got at the event. Couple of pics from today's drive. I tried to wing it...
I strongly suspect that you are right.
I have limited experience with the hmmwv, but on the 1101/1102 I usually fill them to 50psi and call it good. I've never had a problem.
This thread caused me to go check the date codes on the ones on my hmmwv. I'd rather not say....
This is Badness in its worst form....
Glow plug diesel + ether = boom. I wouldn't do it.
Excessive ether = ring damage = rebuild = expensive.
I've never viewed a 12v conversion as an improvement. I'd start by returning it to stock and then troubleshooting via the TM or knowledgeable people...
I really like the issue geared lug wrench. I like it better than a 1" air impact. Maddawg was selling them cheap a while back. Grab one if you get the chance...
I've used a bunch of different tools on lug nuts, and this is my #1 choice.
I'll second steve's comment on multiple jack stands...
