The other issue working HF from a vehicle is there aren't a lot of good options for antennas. The At-1011 is 16' long in it's road version and 32' long when used statically.

Fuse block? There are only circuit breakers for the basic trucks, no fuse blocks. There are fuse blocks in the ambulance bodies but they have nothing to do with the vehicle lighting system. As for replacing both flashers, again, there is only 1 flasher in the truck. Getting back to your...
You have a couple of choices depending on how large your budget is. Older sets like the PRC-74 are available with limited frequency range and a huge vehicular adapter for reasonable costs. Next in line might be a PRC-132 if you can find one. Nice small footprint but there's no vehicular...
Good luck finding soft doors with good windows, they're usually the first thing to fall out of them. They were sewn with the wrong thread and the sun eats it for breakfast. Next problem is they delaminate from the doors along the bottom edge of the window and lastly they turn black from sitting...
This is probably the biggest fault with the Mile Marker winches. In the HMMWV these are considered self recovery winches but if the engine isn't running, how can you self recover? A great arguemrnt for electric winches.

You need to look for a shifter from a 91-92 civy Hummer if you want to add park to your 3L80. The spacing is wrong for the 4L80E shifter with a 3L80 trans. Adding park is a simple task and can be done in a couple of hours without dropping the trans. Here's how it's done...
Mine sounded like someone driving over a cat when I got it. Just replace the silly thing. I have friends who have installed air horns from deuces in them but then you need an air tank and a compressor. I installed a Federal Signal system out of a cop car that has an air horn sound along with a...
Put one resistor on the right output from the MP3 player and the second on the left channel. Connect the other end of the resistors together and connect that to one leg of the 8 ohm side of the transformer and the other leg to the MP3 player ground. Connect the transformer secondary (500 ohm...
Are you sure you have a VIC-4? A Google search doesn't turn up anything for VIC-4, only 1, 3, 5 and TOCNET.
Yes, foam balls will help over your mics.
You didn't state what the impedance of the transformer you installed is. It should be 600:8 with the 8 ohm side toward the MP3 player. You...
There are a couple of methods to remove the rivets. When I started on mine I just drilled them out with a 3/16" bit but found out I was Siamesing the holes and that makes re-riveting difficult. Then I bought a rivet shaver at Boeing Surplus that's basically an end mill stuck in the end of a...
The cool factor is having everything military the way it would have been in service. If you start down this path, what's next? 20" wheels and super swampers? LOL
This is the end that plugs into the bailout cable, not the intercom. There is another cable with the female recepticle for that connector on one end and a standard 6 pin audio connector on the other that you'll need to find. Check with Austin over in Marble Falls for the cable you need.

I've had most of the military headsets and think for the price and sound quality the Racal Raptor headsets that are coming available now are the best bet for the money. Most of them don't have the bailout cable that attaches them to the radios or intercom systems that you'll have to find but...
kapkanimd what your proposing is an automatic battery disconnect but what your suggesting doing will only give you headaches. Here's a much better way to do what you want: https://www.batterystuff.com/battery-products/switches/

Merle, I agree that it's difficult to work from online so copy it to a USB drive and run it down to your local Staples and have them print it out full size or larger so you have a copy to work from. If you have questions please contact me directly at papakb@yahoo.com or 1.408.440.6067

Changing the multipin connectors on the 4723 cables is a whole lot of work and not worth the effort with their availability. It would be much easier if the pins were extractable but they aren't.

BTW, the AS-3900 antenna is perfectly usable with the RT-246 and RT-524 radios without modification. The antenna that would have originally been used with these radios was the AS-1729 but if you already have the AS-3900 base you'll need a A3018230-a lower mast section to attach to it. This has...
