It's not a problem with 'kids today'. People have been stealing **** from each other for as long as people have had **** to steal. Sucks, but let's face it - that's the world we live in. It's always been this way, and it's not going to change.
Can I have your Deuce?
Just picked up a really nice M103A3 flatbed trailer. Planning on building a (removable) enclosure for it, to replace the M353/uhaul trailer I built. This one will be just a little bit smaller and it has a lot better ground clearance.
I like the idea of making hubsteps that bolt onto the lug studs like Jones suggested, but those individual studs sticking out wouldn't work for me. Too vulnerable.
Hi Ed. I know it says it filters out water, but I'm not sure how good a job it will do. I'd be happy if it just caught most of the big chunks of whatever might be suspended in the WMO/WVO. I'm going to get all these parts ordered just as soon as I get a better idea of how I ought to put this...
Good point about the pre-filter. I was thinking that maybe I could use something like this funnel. But I haven't talked to Racor about that, and even if that's not the one to use, I'd like to use some kind of strainer / pre-filter to keep as much crap out of the tank as possible (at least...
Thanks for posting those pics. I thought about making hubsteps like those. Would have been cool because I could have made them a lot larger diameter. But hubsteps like those are bolted onto the wheel studs, and there are only six of them on the 2.5-ton Rockwell axles. So if I used three of them...
I drive off-road too, and I think these hubsteps will actually protect the stock drive flanges. I know a lot of rock crawlers running rockwells have destroyed their flanges by grinding them into things. These hubsteps are made out of 1/4" plate and the way they're designed/built, with the radial...
The laser shop I normally use is being super flakey. Still haven't got a quote from them on these parts. Anybody on SS work in a sheetmetal shop that has a laser-table? Would also consider using water-jet, but it's usually a lot more expensive for parts like these.
I'm headed up to WA at the end of the month to pick up a new trailer. Not sure what the official designation is, but it's a 10ft flatbed, single-axle, that carried two generators. I'm going to install a set of these wheels and tires. Will be a bit wider than I'd like, but I want to run the same...
I just bought a new LDS for Mah Deuce, but I came REALLY close to swapping-in a 6BT. The multifuel capability was a big part of it, but sometimes I wonder what I'm really gaining? I mean, really just the ability to burn gasoline, right? Cummins can be made to burn WMO/WVO just fine, and in all...
Trailer looks like it's coming along really well. Congratulations on the baby!
I've got a queen-sized Tempurpedic mattress in Mah Deuce (M109). Cut it into two pieces, sewed it into fitted covers (made from Sunbrella fabric with ballistic nylon on the bottom), and made it into something like a...
