    Year of manufacture

you might check the date code on the engine block (if the truck hasn't gone through rebuild) to see when it was made. Would have to be that year or newer. Pull the doghouse and check behind the passenger side cylinder head for the block numbers.

    Tyre replacement with runflat

You have to make sure the correct side of the runflat faces out, then there is a little notch cut out where the valve stem enters the rim. Tires don't really matter, but military tends to mount them so that the date code faces out. Makes the tread face one direction on one side of the truck...

    Tyre replacement with runflat

If the tires have been balanced but still run rough, then they are most likely out of round. As far as I know there isn't really anything you can do once they are out of round, other than replace them. I know for mine when I got my truck they were badly out of round (had been sitting in one...

    Newbie Needs Advice on HMMWV

Why would a truck with 26 miles get a replacement engine? Mine did. Lucky me they replaced the GM block with a GEP. From what I understand they rebuild the HMMWVs every 10 years whether they need it or not, and have a budget for them that they try to use all of whether it needs anything or not.

    Newbie Needs Advice on HMMWV

For comparison, I'm into an M1123 around $24000 right now, but it's all together, licensed, 2 door truck. Had 32 miles when I picked it up. The fact that you have a turbo truck that needs a little work for about half makes me jealous. Sure, you can default and pay the penalty if you're really...

    Tyre replacement with runflat

You are correct, the manual does say to use "Lubricant, Runflat" with the rubber runflats (which is a different product than the grease used with the magnesium runflats) The amount the manual says to use is 11 oz, which is 1 full tube, per tire. Cheapest I found it for sale is about $40 per...

    Tyre replacement with runflat

oh, and before unbolting the two halves of the wheel, MAKE SURE THE TIRE IS COMPLETELY DEFLATED!! I recommend removing the valve core completely. (if you try separating things when under pressure there is a possibility of explosions and grievous bodily harm and/or death)

    Tyre replacement with runflat

I have been told that the special grease is only used with the magnesium run flats, and isn't required for the rubber ones. The run flat compressor tool is readily available on ebay, I think I paid $25 for mine, brand new, including shipping. I've done several with just ratchet straps, long...

HMMWV Red Dot A/C Filter Part Number

So I took a look at my filter. There are no numbers on it anywhere. There is no sticker on it anywhere. Outside of the frame has some arrows for airflow direction, and some words, but nothing to identify a part number for it. It also doesn't show up in the Red Dot parts catalog under filters...

Rear fender condenser to Red Dot install thread

I finally got the correct bracket a few days ago, got the condenser installed. I'm still waiting on some other fittings I've managed to screw up during this whole process, then I'll do some more pics and write up about it. With my luck though, the compressor will end up being bad or something...

    MEP-802a House hookup

The two units use about the same amount of fuel for the same loads, the 802 uses 1/2 gallon per hour at full load, the 803 uses 1 gallon per hour at full load. It's the fact that they are diesel and like to be operated under decently heavy loads that would be the reason for running smaller over...

    MEP-802a House hookup

Okay, so let's back up a minute. So you purchased an MEP-802A and plan to set it up as an automatic standby generator. You have also purchased a Kohler service entry rated transfer switch to use with it. So your first question, whether to just do a secondary/sub panel with the loads you really...

Gen set trailer help advice wanted please

So the M200A1 is supposed to be towed behind a 2.5 ton truck or larger. About the only thing you can do to make it safer to tow is do an electric brake conversion. They should be air over hydraulic, so you can probably do an electric over hydraulic conversion and call it good. Either that or...

    101A2 electric brakes - problem

Lines can be bought from NAPA, master cylinder easily available online (same design used in forklifts still), slave cylinders also available online. But that's mostly relevant if you plan to tow it with a HMMWV and don't have a trailer brake controller. If it's for behind a civilian truck then...

    New to me 2000 M1097A2

Oddly enough, mine just started doing the exact same thing. Was considering starting a thread soon about it if I couldn't figure it out. During startup when the glow plugs are pulsing and putting a brief heavy load on the generator, it does that. Also hear the same sound when the wheels are...

Conversion kit to run MEP-018A on LP

Nor NG performance during the cold, as long as the main regulator is large enough to handle all the loads, then fuel supply shouldn't be an issue. I don't think you will have much issue with the NG during winter, the only possibility I see is it might be a LOT harder to start. I don't know...

    101A2 electric brakes - problem

err, what was wrong and what did you figure out? Someone else might run across a similar issue and need help.

Conversion kit to run MEP-018A on LP

Right, that was another thing I was going to mention but forgot to. Depending on the temperature outside, propane will vaporize at different rates. The more power you need, the more vapor is needed. The tank has a limited area for the propane to vaporize, especially on BBQ or other portable...
