BLEBYU: My A3 does not have a winch or else I would be glad to take the pics. If I had to have a winch on my A3...I would sell it and buy one with a winch. You should be able to sell your truck for what an A3 with winch will bring at auction.
I am sure you COULD get it to work...but it will be tough. What are you going to use for a PTO? The winch on an A3 is hydraulic, while the winch on an A2 is mechanical. They have completely different PTOs.
The M945 is fairly unusual. They did not make that many bridge trucks. They are very cool trucks. As you said...very beefy. I believe they have the double frame in the back.
Just curious...where did you get yours? A couple came up in PA a few years back. I've also seen a few on eBay.
Most of the ones I have seen are like the one posted here...homemade cargo covers over metal framework as Will pointed out. They actually made a kit that contained extended side bows and an extended single piece cargo cover. I have one for my M814 and I hope to have the truck at Aberdeen this...
You will probably have to have them fabricated. It should not be too difficult or expensive. I am not sure how thick those suckers are, but they are heavy!
There are so many trucks up right now because they are purging them from the system. This flood can't possibly last forever. If I were not inundated with so many fairly expensive projects, I'd like to grab five or six or them...but I just don't have the money to draw $10K away from the other...
Are you referring to the wheel jack? That is, the device whereby you can wheel away the whole jack with one tire or the duals on it? I have one and it is for sale. Pick up only in MD...or I might be able to get it to Aberdeen. $85 is what I am asking and it is what I paid Joe Young for it...
With regard to Allison/ordering the dipstick, it may work or it may not. I needed a dipstick and tube for my M925A2 (I had one on there, but it was the wrong one). I took the truck to Allison and they had to have one fabricated. They told me that this was a military only part that they did...
I read once that, with the added weight from the armor, armaments, ammo and crew, the M35's frame and suspension were not up to the task. The deuces often suffered failures in these areas.
I agree...pics would help. That could be a $1,500 truck or a $15,000 truck...depending upon the exact condition. I once had an M813A1 that I sold for $14K...and the guy was THRILLED to own it. It was MINT. Assuming your friend's truck is in average shape, I'd say $7K, but pics would help.
I am fine with the GL ads...because their purpose has been explained clearly to me by both Chris S. and Mike. If you want an explanation, ask through a PM. There is never a need to post direct auction info. That happens to be my personal opinion but, even more importantly, this is Chris'...
I hear ya. I also admired that truck, but was a bit shocked it brought that much. At least two people thought it was worth that much at auction, though. Yeah, I agree...900 series parts are hard to come by. It is not like looking for parts for a deuce or 800 series. What specifically are you...
I can't tell you how many times this topic has been discussed. I bet you will find a minimum of two threads, but most likely more if you conduct a search. One thread recently covered the highest mileage deuces that are known. Another asked how many miles could one expect out of a multifuel...
