The cost is more like three, four or five times the cost of an A2. If you find an A3 going for $6K, you stole it. Most A2s bring $2K or less (I'd guess the average cost is closer to $1,500 or so). The A3 is just as "fast" as the A2. The belief that it is slower is a myth. It is much quicker...
Price is a good reason to stay away from the A3. All things being equal, it is a superior truck, though. However, you can buy several good A2s for the price of one A3.
The cab has the heater controls, but the actual heater is missing from the engine compartment. I saw the controls and told you it had a heater. It looks like I was only partially correct. That will be a simple fix since you probably only have to install and hook up the actual heater unit...
It was an honor to help out. When CARNAC asked me if I could carry David to the cemetary, I immediately agreed! It was the least I could do for such an honorable man. It made me feel nice to know that I was giving him his last ride in a military vehicle.
I don't know the truth of this...but this is what John Winslow told me. The control box on an M939A2 will work on an M809, but not the reverse. I never tried it so I am not sure. This is definitely what I heard from John.
Zero degrees here this morning and the M35A3 started up fairly easily with a sniff of starting fluid. Admittedly, I had to feather the pedal for about 30 seconds while the motor smoothed out a bit.
Keith, maybe someone in that area can do a pre-inspection to see if the truck could be made roadworthy. I know your mechanic skills...you will be fine.
I want to replace the airlines (rubber hoses) that go to the wiper motors on my M925A2. Would anyone know what size is needed? I left the house today without measuring. Thanks!
Try to find fuel burning heaters. Unfortunately, they are almost non-existant. You will almost certainly end up installing hot water heaters, which, as you can see above, are only barely adequate in colder areas. Better than nothing.
Mike, please confirm...I post an ad to the classifieds...and, then, I am free to hit a particular forum with a post saying..."Hey guys, I just listed my NOS fuel burning heater in the classifieds. This is a very rare and desirable kit. The first $500 takes it." Is that what you are saying...
No comparison...fuel burning heater all the way. A friend who lives in MT recently told me he had it on low and was driving around in a t-shirt and jeans with the window cracked 6"...and it was below zero! They rock! Nothing else compares. The hot water heaters are decent, but they really...
I saw that truck when it came up and even had someone lined up in MT to hold onto it for me. I could not pull the trigger due to so many purchases this past year. Now, after seeing it, DD, I wish I could have snagged it from you! Great score on a rare truck. I love the 4 color camo...
