I know I have been guilty of posting one for sale item recently. I can't remember the last time previous to that. Regardless, I broke the rules. I did so, as Chris indicated would be my (and others' reason) is because the classified section, as currently constituted, does not get nearly...
As the others have pointed out, it is probably nothing serious. Even if the description said RUNS, you still don't know how it well it runs, or if the transmission works properly. To add a scenario to those above...there was another thread of posts on a truck in PA recently. The description...
If by "stug" you mean the German WWII tank destroyer, I would strongly doubt any are over in the states. You may have better chances finding a US tank, but not likely many are still around.
I was getting ready to say, "Good luck, you'll never be able to find them." :oops:Boy, was I wrong. Just goes to show that most stuff is out there some place!
I am not sure how much snow you were dealing with. I had a similar experien ce trying to pull an M929 out of a snow bank that was probably 4' deep (the M929's valve that engages the front axle was frozen (and that was even with draining the tanks!). Well, I got the M125 10 tonner out...hooked...
HOTRODDEUCE: I meant that was too much for THAT vehicle, not that it was too much to spend on another truck. I really like the tracks and have owned both an M548A1 and an M1015A1. They are really cool...possibly the coolest vehicles that I've owned...but, unless you have acreage like MADSAM...
SLOTMAN: Do you have the rear door? Is everything there to install this on a truck? Man, that would be a really cool accessory, especially for our friends in the colder areas. No problem on mentioning my name to the buyer or in your ad. Good luck!
Mike, initally that was the trailer that was used since the first M123s came out in the 50s when this trailer was still current issue. The M747 was really designed for the short-lived tractor fielded in the 70s. I can't remember the model of the tractor. The M123 was also used with the 25 ton...
SLOTMAN: I have no idea on the value, but I'd say in the upper hundreds. When you do sell it, keep an NOS fuel burning heater kit that I have in mind for the buyer...please. The kit I have even has the hard to find bird cage that keeps passengers from getting burned. JWALLER spoke up about...
Also, do a search on YOUTUBE. There are some pretty impressive videos. There is a dealer in MIL VEH MAG that is advertising a few starting at just under $40K. That is way too rich for my wallet.
The next question to ask is should you go with the Michelin or Goodyear 1400. :-D Personally, I like the look of the Michelin better, but the Goodyear will wear better...and, for whatever reason, I have found that they are a bit cheaper. Good luck!
Can a deuce tow a 5 ton? Physically, yes. Practically, no. If I had to move a truck a few miles at low speed with an escort that I could run into if I could not stop, I might chance it. However, I suggest that you avoid this if at all possible. If you have to make a panic stop, you will not...
Don't even pay attention to the miles/hours...or at best only cursory attention. As has been stated above, the condition of the truck is more important. I've seen and owned trucks with 2,000 hours or more that run way better than a low hour truck.
I've said this before...the GL pictures...
Welcome, Koulis! I would check with JATONKA (John Tennis) on this list. I believe he has a good selection of manuals, but I am not sure if he has what you need. If you, please post some pics of your trucks! It would be interesting to see your fleet!
Good luck!
BOBH: I like the laws in MI! The insurance has always been the easy part for me...the tags have been the problem since I don't always know the VIN. Congrats on the recovery and thanks for the response.
