Retired War Horses is a respected member of this forum. He restores these vehicles and has great experience.
He offered to help you, and as such I would accept his offer and call him.
PM him to get his number, or PM me and I will give it to you. ( I don't post numbers on the Internet.)
If I...
Harmonic Balancer failure?
Flex plate lost a balance weight?
Crank shaft failure.
Piston or push rod failure.
Thanks to you and your brothers and sisters for your service.
An electric pressure washer is maybe 70 clams. Amazingly versatile, especially in detailing under the hood and removing gum from your sidewalk.
Engine degreaser and a scrungie plastic sponge and elbow grease work BUT do you really want to inhale that poison?
Gasoline explodes. 2 drops is like...
Have you tried SeaFoam or engine degreaser followed by warm water attached to your pressure washer? Set washer at wider angle and be careful not to blow a hole into the tank, but should work really well. The warm (almost hot) water really makes the pressure wash effective.
Lizard Skin Sound followed by Lizard Skin Heat. Then traditional or aftermarket floor sound deadening mats.
IMHO, Dynamat is heavy, expensive, and might eventually pull loose. It is great for car show stereo systems that will no longer be show quality 2 years later. I like the stuff for show...
I like camo BUT black is easier to care for as far as touch ups.
You need to go to the paint and resto forum and look up Behr paint threads.
You need to get title and regi prior to all your upgrades.
Maybe post that as a sticky?
I think this and the Luverne Home made stuff is pretty awesome.
Mods, maybe a "Home Made Items" sticky for those things that are highly sought after and can also be fabricated?
These are 16.5 inch rims but they hold 37.5 inches of rubber. Just look at a picture and you will see what happens if you’re left with just a rim.
If you air down lots of bad things can happen, including a rollover. I know lots of people remove the runflats to diminish rolling weight BUT there...
True, but mine lives in Brooklyn, NY, and not on a "real" military base.
Replica doors are just fine for me. Locked doors are safer, and electric windows make life just a little easier. They also rattle less. ;)
EDIT - I didn't mean to sound snarky towards 86humv.
I keep my runflats in. I do this to prevent differential damage if I air down at speed. Also allows me to drive off the highway to do repairs vs. losing my legs or my life from bumper injuries at the side of an active hway.
About 6-10 months ago someone made one from scratch [EDIT- 2019 LOL]. It was posted in the "What Have You Done Lately" forum, IIRC.
He got several compliments.
Maybe start there?
[EDIT] Post #4048, posted by Andyrv6av8r
You guys are awesome. I will check these out.
One will act for starter. One will act for HMMWV electrics and one will be for glow plugs.
Any thoughts on diodes?
Looking to make a manual or "dumb" PCB for my HMMWV.
Think I need 24 Volt, 100 amp, full duty relays.
Am I correct? What brand would you guys use? What company would you buy from?
Also, would you use diodes? If so, same questions...
Am I correct? What brand would you guys use? What company...
I say leave it alone for 3 reasons...
1) Looks fine.
2) Over time body mounts lose height, and you are now probably only 1/2" over factory specs.
3) Every time I lift my hood I find a new way to spend $.
I purchased these and am waiting for Summer to install.
Seller seems OK. I have no affiliation with the seller.
Electric locks and windows.
I'm told they need to be trimmed to fit.
