Jerry, I bumped up an old thread from last December where you were one of several guys having similar Hz droop issues. ( don't want to take this thread too far off subject ) Please check it out and let me know if you got yours fixed and how you solved it.
Thank you
Ray.
Hi Jerry, I know this is a little old, but was wondering if you ever fixed your Hz droop problem? This is the same issue I was mentioning to you in the other thread this morning. I put that digital meter on 1 of my machines yesterday and load tested it and it only droops about .5Hz at 80% load...
For about $19 you can get a panel mount digital Hz/Volt meter on e-bay, make an adapter disc and mount it in place of the current Hz meter. run 2 wires to the OEM volt meter and you have instant Hz and volt readings and no need for expensive frequency transducers an analog meters. Be ware of the...
Hi Jerry, my meter is rectangular too, made the same round disc with a rectangular cut out. I had to file the corner of the meter just a little to get it to fit through the round opening fron the original meter. I hooked it up like yours and it works good. Apparently I disconnected a wrong wire...
Hi Storeman, I had a minute to play with the meter late last night. I had disconnected the transducer at the TB and taped off all the unused wires, reconnected the meter at the same points on the TB (12 and 13 if I recall ) expecting to see 120V at the meter, but got nothing. Maybe I have a wire...
A similar storm here in New England last winter is what pushed me to buy my first 002A, 24" of snow overnight, no power for a week. I have 2 young kids and my disabled in-laws next door and we have well water. I've got a 7800kw Generac (gas) and a malfunctioning 3600w generator for my in-laws...
Interesting about the diesel/copper reaction. So there must be something else different about diesel that causes it to gel in the presence of copper, since copper has been used for HHO tanks for decades with no problems. Maybe its something with the diesel additives? This application will have...
Hi Ike, Do you know what is causing your Hz meter issue? Bad meter or transducer?
One of my units has a transducer that does not like vibrations. works fine on the bench but any vibration or shock to the transducer sends the gage haywire!
Friday I received a panel mount digital Hz/volt meter I...
I have not yet tried drawing fuel from a basement level tank up to ground level with 002A, but I would not expect it to be a problem.
You are probably only looking at about 6'-8' of head at the most. It all depends on the strength of the transfer pump, but I wouldn't think 8' would be a problem...
Hey Hotshot, just for my future reference, approximately what would hauling an M923 from Ft.Meade to RI 02817 cost?
No rush, I'm just trying to get an idea on shipping, I hope to buy one in the upcoming months.
Thanks!
The PN's that Nonotagain listed are all correct, but I read somewhere that some have wrong size gaskets ( as you found ) and I think the Napa/WIX oil filters need the tabs in the center of the filter bent in to clear the center tube. I know many folks dislike Fram, but they were the OEM filter...
What happened to Rapracing's comment saying he left the battery in place for a while then smelled something burning and found 4 of the A4 diodes had burned up?
I saw the comment then the SS site went off line for a while, now that post is gone
Can you confirm your bridge rectifier is...
Try taking a look at the resolution to a similar problem I had recently. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?111171-MEP-002A-are-all-Control-cubicles-interchangeable I was getting no power unless I continuously manually flashed the field, But the generator acted differently when I...
Problem solved! the replacement CVT has fixed the problem. So, to recap, the machine with a Libby AC box would not put out power unless I hold the start switch indefinitely, but it would work normally with a JR.H AC box. The CVT had an open in the windings at H5-H6. Replacing the CVT has...
Well, back to fixing this -002A... After a couple failed attempts to score a parts machine at a reasonable price from GL, Craig A Tull hooked me up with a replacement CVT. I got it installed in my AC connection box today. It wasn't too bad to swap out, the hardest part is the heavy wire going to...
Hey Jerry,
Thanks for the comment... I'll try to have a good time if the kids behave! Anyway, 6 Caswell kits, **** your wallet must have suffered a coronary after that!
I got a "double" kit, guess it was a quart, on ebay. It was a left over someone bought and didn't use. anyway I would estimate...
N1oty, in regards to your question about running a pair of -002A's in parallel, I saw Sewerzuk's video and I plan to do the same thing. I think a single -002A will cover most of my needs, but I know for sure it will not start my air compressor and if we loose power in the dead of summer it won't...
Hi Jerry, I had the same problem with the tanks on both of the first MEP-002A's I got a few months ago. I used some metal etching acid and a bunch or screws, bolts and misc. hardware, sloshed it all around to clean the inside of the rusty tanks. Then I power washed them. They came out...
Hi Jason,
Out of curiosity, do you remember what portion of your CTV1 was open?
I have a MEP-002A that is not putting out any power unless I continuously hold the start switch and manually flash the field. as soon as I release the switch, power goes out.
I found H5-H6 on the CVT1 to be open (...
Hello Craig,
I recently posted a thread about a strange problem I was having that I thought was a control cubicle problem. But, it turns out I think its a bad CVT1 transformer winding. I see you had good luck switching to a Flight Systems SX460 and wanted to ask you a couple questions, if I may...
