Take a look at what McMaster's got. I just bought some adhesive-backed silicone to put between the framerails and the skidplate on my dirt bike. When I removed and reinstalled my fuel tank, it looked like they just used cotton webbing. So I bought some cotton webbing at a local fabric store, but...
Thanks for posting G. Always appreciate your input. I was trying to avoid relying on a gnarly sealant for all the reasons you just mentioned. At that point, I'd rather just run tubes. The thing that got me thinking about this is the ghetto tubeless conversions that have become so popular with...
Nothing wrong with tubes, but I'm running 11.00 Firestone T831 radials and if I can run tubeless, I'd like to. I appreciate what you guys are saying, and I'm not trying to do anything reckless, but the liability is the last thing I'm concerned about. I've already cut my wheels apart and welded...
I don't think you guys are following me. It's probably my fault. What I'm proposing is that we might be able to effectively seal the flap to the inner and outer bead of the tire, so the split ring would be irrelevant.
One way to do this might be to apply some type of silicone (or something...
Well I already posted a link to what I'm planning on doing (just a few posts up), and a search will turn up all kinds of information and opinions about what should be included in fording preparations. I'm just telling you that I've read everything I could find on this topic, and there's no...
I know why you're thinking that, but I'm counting on being able to effectively seal the flap to the tire. Might not work that way I'm thinking it will, but I think it's worth a try.
I just got all my wheels back from the sandblaster, and I'm going to take them to get powder-coated tomorrow (by the way, Les Schab will powder-coat wheels for $25ea). But before I order new tubes, I'd like to talk about whether it might be possible to convert these wheels to tubeless. I know, I...
McMaster lists push/pull cables rated up to 110/170lbs. Don't think that's going to be a problem.
That's exactly what I'm doing with the slobber tube. Got a RACOR CCV4500 unit that I'm planning on installing on Mah Deuce. Not sure the bellhousing drain is worth the trouble though. Think I'll...
a simple ball-valve attached directly to the bellhousing would work a lot better. If you attach a hose that goes any higher than the bellhousing, it's going to collect all the junk that you're trying to drain.
I've been wondering about replacing the oil filters with remote-mounted units too. I've been looking at the filter heads that companies like RACOR make, and it almost seems like it might be easier / cheaper to go that route. I'm planning on installing one of RACOR's Turbine series oil filters...
Wha-wah-whaaaat!?! PLEASE tell me where we can buy new T831's for $250ea. I checked prices before I bought a set of 11.00 20R T831's for Mah Deuce and they were over $750ea.
How about towbars? I've got a few medium-adjustable towbars that I need to ship, and no convenient way to weigh them. Would love to know what each leg assembly weighs, as I'm guessing I'll need to ship them separately (not going by freight).
I installed a 12ft uhaul box on top of an M353 trailer (that's 12ft including the cabover, probably very similar in dimensions to a cabover camper). Had to extend the tongue a few feet so it wouldn't hit the box. But I'd to build something a little bit smaller and more maneuverable, so lemme...
What KIND of tires though, and at what kind of prices? Are you running OTR tires? One of the main reasons I decided to stick with 20" wheels was to be able to take advantage of all the cheap surplus tires out there. Oh yeah, and post some pics of your rig on 22.5's!
