more questions & ideas related to fording kits

What did you end up using for a regulator? And would you mind posting some details about what you did on your truck, as far as fording kits go?

    5-ton air-pack on Deuce?

Well, the mounts are obviously different, but that's no big deal. And the air & hydraulic connections have to be different too, if that's what allows the 5-tons to be set-up to tow. But I'm wondering if there's anything about the 5-ton air-pack that would make it not work on a deuce. Is that...

    5-ton air-pack on Deuce?

When I was at Brad's place up in WA, I told him that I wanted to get some gladhands and brackets off a 5-ton to put on the front of Mah Deuce (so that it would be set up to tow behind another vehicle). Brad did me one better an sent me home with a 5-ton air-pack. He told me that it's got a...

more questions & ideas related to fording kits

Air-pack vent? Can I tie this into the common vent/pressure lines? Air compressor governor vent? Can I tie this into the common pressure lines? Fuel tank vent? Looks like this need to be vented separately.

My Bobbed Deuce is almost done

Thanks for posting part numbers for those door handles, and for the link to the digital switch. Where did you buy those door handles, and did you have to modify the wiring harness, or did the new switch just plug right in?

flipping the center-sections in riveted wheels

Sorry, wasn't trying to be cryptic. I just bolted the center-section onto the hub (as shown), then used a square and a sharpie pen to mark a line 1" in from the lip, all the way around the wheel. Then I used a 4.5" grinder with a cutoff wheel to remove that ring (shown llaying up against the...

flipping the center-sections in riveted wheels

Got the last of the wheels cut apart today (10 total). Also cut 1" off the flange on the one of the center-sections. I think I'm going to have all of the wheels sand-blasted before I weld them back together.

flipping the center-sections in riveted wheels

Talk about more than one way to skin a cat. So we've got: 1) oxy-acetylene torch 2) plasma torch 3) air hammer/chisel 4) drill What else?

flipping the center-sections in riveted wheels

That's exactly what I'm planning on doing, but I hadn't worked out all the dimensions yet. Got three more wheels to cut apart before I was going to worry about it, but now you've gone and done it for me. Thanks. I'd like to calculate my scrub radius. Can't do much about it, but I'm curious. Do...

    towbar on bumper

Here's a pic, just to show what I'm talking about. If I had to guess, I would have assumed the towbars were meant to be assembled this way. Much mo betta.

    '71 M35A2 air compressor lubrication

Are you saying that you adapted another type of air compressor to the deuce engine? If so, I'd like to hear more about that.

flipping the center-sections in riveted wheels

Yeah, I've flipped the hubs. I would really like to run Canadian beadlocked wheels, but they're esspensive and I don't like how far inboard they are under the truck. If I didn't care about keeping the front/rear track-width the same, I would just have left the back hubs set up for duals and only...

    towbar on bumper

Figured it out. Evidently the two different versions of the towbars have slightly different length legs, or the holes are in different locations. Whatever. I traded my short leg for one that was the right length for my towbar, and it's all good now. Also, wanted to mention that flipping the...

flipping the center-sections in riveted wheels

Only got four and a half rims done before I ran out of gas. Went to exchange my tanks and they're all out of the size I wanted, so I wasn't able to finish. But now that I've got the hang of it, I think it's taking me about a 1/2hr per rim. Could have easily done all 10 today. Once I've got all...
