Hmmm, that's interesting. I didn't know there was that much performance potential in those engines. Even if it's not in that engine, it's still in the 'family'. If I was ready to give up the multifuel though, it'd probably be a Cummins 5.9 swap in an A2 for me...
I've been talking with the guys at Bendix about replacing the air compressor with something that puts out a bit more air. I found a Midland part number someone posted on here as: MS-51322-1, but a cross-reference search on Haldex doesn't turn up any results. Is that the right part number? I...
Be careful with that stuff. Make sure that whatever you're coating is primed, prepped and sealed! Line-X ruined a perfectly good Jeep tub of mine because moisture worked it's way in between the body seams. That was an awful experience, and that's why I'm looking at alternatives for Mah Deuce.
Those liners ARE the sound-deadening. Going to be more effective than just about any of the paint-on sound-deadening stuff you can buy. Here's a link to a thread I just started on expeditionportal asking about insulation options.
I'm not sure what you're asking? If you're asking about the Spinner II, it never needs to be changed. There's no filter element. You just clean out the bowl periodically. With regard to the oil, I'm installing a brand new (rebuilt) LDS in Mah Deuce, I'm filling it with Amsoil synthetic...
The benefit is that these Spinners filter down to less than one micron, and there's no filter element to change.
I was planning on installing a second centrifuge in my trailer, so I could filter oil/fuel, but now I'm wondering whether I might be able to plumb the one Spinner into some type of...
Sorry, YES, MIG-welding. I started a thread on pirate to get some more input about welding on the backside of these center-sections. I'd like to weld them front & back, but I'll restrain myself if it's really such a bad idea. I was just thinking that with the way these multi-piece wheels are...
And here's what it looks like mounted on the front of Mah Deuce. I'm pretty happy with how it sits. I think I might be able to squeeze another .5" of backspacing into these wheels too, for a total of 6.5" (this wheel has 6"). Would be nice if I could get the tires a little bit closer to flush...
I got the wheel down to about 1/8" out (true & hops). Couldn't do any better than that because there were actually flat spots and inconsistencies in the wheel shell. I took a couple of videos to show you guys how I was truing it, but this site won't let me attach .MP4 files, and I can't access...
Got the first wheel pretty darn straight, and it took me about 1/2hr to get it all welded-up. It's cool now, and I'm going out to mount a tire right now. Stand by for pics...
I'm attempting to true-up this first wheel, and I'm only able to get it within about an 1/8". I didn't check any of the stock wheels before I cut them apart, and I'm wondering how straight do these things run.
Got all of the center-sections cut out, and all of the holes in the rim-shells welded-up. Just finished grinding down the welds on one of the rim shells, and pressed-in a center-section to see how it fits on Mah Deuce. I set the backspacing at 6" and that's going to put the outside edges of the...
