    M105 Inspection CHECKLIST

18 hours and no pictures. You are killing us here. Oh, just to add a note to the safety minded. Unless you have actually been out on the Staked Plains where this recovery might or not take place. You really have no clue of the desolation and emptyness out there. He is in more danger of...

    New Deuce and some Questions...

As you can tell. We all have our own ways. Change your oil, put in the amount listed on the data plate to bring it to full, run it, let it sit a while and then figure out what letter of what word is your cold check line.

    New Deuce and some Questions...

Measure 1-1/2 inches up the dip stick from the full mark and mark that some how. Is that about where the oil is? Unless you are pulling the cut off at the IP and putting in a clean stick to pull out right away, you really could just be reading the oil wrong. Mine just stays around the X in...

    Global Warming and Deuce Air

One more thing to add about the windshield open, everything else closed cooling system. Kenny showed Kwai, Sermis and myself that trick at the 2007 GA rally. We then drove the M35 25 hours straight back to Texas. We actually started getting cold during the night on I-10 along the Coast. The...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

If the engine stumbles, it can only be caused by lack of fuel. Now, that could mean a fuel system leak or the pink wire at the top of the IP bieng loose and bouncing around. If those two check out, then you are left with a bad IP getting worse. I just put a new IP on a truck that would...

M715 spotted today on Austins toll road

Nope, wasn't me. I did drive it Saturday, but no closer than 45 miles from the toll road. Kwai didn't have his out playing that far from home as far as I know either.

    M101A1 Recovery?

Just to say it again. Check the bearings. I picked one up 2 weeks ago. I pulled the bearing cap on the drivers side, found nice fresh looking grease, a tire that turned easily and bearings that were adjusted correctly. No cotter pin however. I put some bailing wire in there so the nut...

    M105 Inspection CHECKLIST

The reason I know about the steak house is my best friend from the Corps at A&M, Boxcar here on SS grew up at the first house south of the river when you leave the steak house. His parents still live there. Last time I was there, we went up the road to eat.

    Fuel problem on the m1009

We aren't trying to argue with you. It is just that white smoke while cranking means fuel to the cylinders and running and driving once started means everything else is ok. That leaves glow plug system or starter motor speed. How fast is it turning over?

    M105 Inspection CHECKLIST

The reason he suggested not hooking up the air is this. The M105 version with the breakaway air line locks the brakes up when air leaves it in a hurry. If there is a leak, the brakes will lock up. So, for an empty trailer and only 17 miles. Unless you just want to. Wait until you get home...

    Why are there 2 batteries?

The best advice is what you have already seen on here many, many times. Download the TM's and read them. Read them over and over again until you understand just about everything. However, here is a fast course on CUCV electricals. They are basically a civilian Chevy truck. All the normal...

Truck Tire OKC to San Anonio

If the stuff can get to the MVPA meeting tonight by 1930 or so. I can take them to SA on the 1st where I have to spend a week at a teacher conference. Mark would probably be a better choise though because he lives there.

    driving without doors?

No doors helps around town and below 30 mph. I did that with my Gasser M35 a few years ago. However, above 30 mph or on long trips. Close everything except the front windshield. Open it just enough that it hits the hood when the hood is up. Once rolling, you will be comfortable. All the...

    Glow plug threads damaged

Adam, I have never tried it on glow plugs, but a helicoil like you mentioned should work. They work on high compression gas engine spark plugs with aluminum heads. Is it one you can get to or one you will have to pull the head to even get a drill into? Might as well go with the new head then.

    M715's Good or Bad ??

Tom, Spicergear, two post up pretty much said it all about engine choices. He also has more experience with hills thatn I do because of where he lives. However, I had my 396/NV4500 powered M715 out in Colorado back in 2008. We were climbing mountains. Above 9,000 feet or so, the big Block...

    M1009 Starting Problems

I would suggest you start by checking each and every glow plug the way the TM tells you to. Which is with a DVOM. Then, filter, fuel lines, lift pump and finally the IP. The TM takes you through these steps as well. The 6.2 is an amazingly simple engine to work on. It either runs or it...

    4th Semi-Annual Texas MV Rally

We have had big camp fires for the first 3 Rally gatherings. On the ground. Last fall, it got really, really cold. Nothing makes the bed of a M35 warm besides some kind of carpet/insulation on the floor is my belief as well. What exactly did you have in mind there Cooper? We have always...

    Zenith Carb Swap

My rebuilt Holley to spec bubbled over after idling at least 10 minutes. I kept adjusting the float down just a hair at a time until it would idle all day long without getting the burbles. Still had great WOT application at any rpm. I have no clue what I finally ended up at, just that it...
