Seems about all of us posted or where writting the correct answers at the same time.
By the way, this is probably the 238th thread with the same stuff listed out on this topic.
As pointed out above, any diesel will use a variety of fuels with the same basic hydrocarbon count. This does not include the newer computer controlled emission diesels made since 2006. Run as good as straight diesel? Your results will vary.
Because of the piston design, intake valve design...
That is true. However, then you will have an experimental wiring system that nobody but you will know how it operates. Making it so none of us here will be able to help with any future wiring problems, reducing resale value and who knows what will happen when you try to slave another truck or...
Yes, that works great. However, because the CUCV alternators need to know what is going on with their battery and sometimes with the other battery. Leaving the system stock is the best choice.
Now, if you have anything else besides a CUCV. Go for it. I have done that many times on...
Jeep panels plus and BJ off road have panels for the rockers. IFSJ.com will be your best source of cab body parts since they are the same as the FSJ's.
Tom is right about the LU4 winch.
Sounds like the farmer put a lot of fertilizer in the bed and had it on his feet when he got in and out.
The cans themselves are around 600 pounds. Those things don't slide very good either. This is one of those times you want the fork lifts of GL involved. If you don't have that help, I am not sure how you are going to load them. Something to think about.
I thought from the thread title that you had mounted the tires on the CUCV. It was one of those "I have got to see this" thoughts as the thread was loading up.
You are using the truck as it was intended. Enjoy.
The stock glow plug system is supposed to come on if the engine temp is below 125°. I "think" the WAIT light comes on if the engine is below 85°. Or at least those were the thoughts of the designers 30 years ago. What is actually happening with your engine depends on the state of the glow...
Mine has always needed a little push on the pedal to start. Hot or cold. Many filter changes, thousands of miles and no difference. I even bumped the idle up to 850 and it still needs it.
Change your filters just to be sure they are good, but otherwise don't worry about it. Mine will fire...
It shouldn't bog, but every 6.2 I have ever driven seems to stop adding power about 1/2 throttle. So, there really isn't any point in pushing down that far. Maybe all the ones I have driven have problems too?
Do as posted above. Fuel supply, fuel filter and air filter. After that it is...
Kind of like at the last Rally in March. 7 or 8 of us were in the shade of the EM-50 talking about MV's (what else?) and a part or piece or something was mentioned several states away. Between us, we knew people along the way to get the part here. Only 5 or 6 hand offs involved. Really pretty...
You guys got me wrong. I wasn't saying we should limit attendance. The more the merrier. I was just pointing out in a not very good way that a lot of MVPA types don't always get on line or feel the need to get on line by the hour like we do. They might not understand the level of addiction...
That might be a good idea. However, while MVPA members might make up a good percentage of the SS active member family. SS members do not make up much of a percentage at all of the MVPA family.
We in Austin with the LSMVPA are kind of unique. We might actually have 60% of the people at an...
There are a lot of us MVPA types coming to the Rally. Most of us here started here and then went out to find the MVPA and local chapters. Not so many MVPA types go the other way.
When you hear the "deep clicking" sound your hear. Look at your volt meter. It should be moving up or down with the sound.
The WAIT light just tells you when the plugs are "pre-glowing." They also "after glow" once the engine starts for up to a minute depending on out side temps and engine...
