    m923a2 fan actuator

There are 3 o-rings inside the unit. You'll need to remove and disassemble it further to find them and replace them.

True failure rates of the 6CTA8.3L injector pump?

Your process is good. Go ahead and break open the injector lines from the injector before you start cranking to see if anything comes out. Even the slightest stream from one injector gives you the indication it could-maybe-possibly-sorta-kinda has a chance to loosen itself up and fire. Tighten...

Dallas TX Folks - 5 Ton Insurance and Title Question

What truck is it and was it actually made in 2008 or rebuilt in 2008? You've yet to share this info. A Progressive Commercial policy limited to personal use will insure you but that is expensive. Progressive may insure it if you bring your daily driver over, I've done this before too. You can...

Dallas TX Folks - 5 Ton Insurance and Title Question

Howdy IronhorseTX, I'm local to you and handle this stuff literally every day. Here's the form you need to register it as a FMV - Former Military Vehicle. The only things you need with this are proof of insurance and your choice of license plate or stencil. Now, insurance wise.. what are you...

    First M35A2c road trip!

Judging by your pickup destination you're buying one of my former 1987 M35A2C Air Force trucks from Tinker AFB. I won't dox (disclose without permission) the owner's name but he's very passionate about Air Force legacy. The deuce you're getting has been gone through above and beyond for the guy...

    Run out of fuel…

Don't forget good fuel lines! Every truck has cracked lines from surplus these days.

Pop off valve sticking, need correct term for the TMs

I found replacement steps in the 9-2320-272-24-2 Page 3-1022 but I didn't see rebuild steps for the dryer itself.

Pop off valve sticking, need correct term for the TMs

Time for a full rebuild or replacement. There's a few options in the parts cheat sheet depending on how are you want to do with it. Here's the cheapest service kit i found with a quick google search. Ebay link Air Dryer COMPLETE UNIT "Air Plus System" NAPA/MIDLAND/HALDEX MBI DA33110X...

    5 ton engine question ?

The axles can take the power but getting it there is a different question. The transmission on the M809 would be your weakest link. Plenty of people have swapped in Cummins 290s easily. Getting up into the 300's+ requires reworking engine mounts and other modifications not to mention a 400 BC...

923A1 Cummins 250 Injection Pump Replacement

The task itself is relatively easy, take it step by step. It doesn't need to be timed or anything. What you will need is special wrenches or make your own. The bolts that keep the IP attached to the air compressor are in terrible spots, one on the back in particular, and Cummins designed a...

losing prime after a week m929

You can pressurize the fuel tank to 5 psi and open the bleeder nut on the back side of the injection pump. It's closer to the radiator and 10mm. Be gentle with it when tightening it. Push fluid until it stops bubbling.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Obtained two Oshkosh FMTV A1 contract submission vehicles post demil. I was able to document them some before their cannibalization but now that they're in good (safe) hands maybe one will run again.. one day.

losing prime after a week m929

It sounds like you have an A2 truck. Replace the soft fuel line between the primary fuel filter and the lift pump. If that doesn't solve it then inspect the lift pump (could have failed push button), bad fuel lines near tank selector valve (if tractor, dump, or wrecker), or in tank hard lines...

    Advice on M929 Dump Truck

The M917 dump can haul up to 20 yards of material but they're a rarer truck to find. They have a unique transmission by today's standards (CAT 7155) which has little to no commercial support and known problems with age. The Big Cam 400 is a strong engine and axles strong too. The issue falls...

Mechanic in Houston and an cab air bag question

Make sure it's not the troop alarm or cable making the buzzer go off. It's usually attached to the head board of the bed and is known for this issue.

Is govplanet still auctioning California M1093-M1083’s

Everything GP has listed or soon to be listed is a hold over from last year. Uncle Sam does his annual audit and DLA/DRMO stops releasing items early December until about this time. There may be more FMTVs but equally not since GP is the lowest priority on released items and FMS (foreign...

True failure rates of the 6CTA8.3L injector pump?

It's all internal on the IP at that point - gummed up that is. It's just from the truck sitting and the new style diesel gumming it up. Yes, forcing Marvel Mystery Oil or a blend of your choice to hopefully free up the internals. I've had luck once on a really stuck pump by clamping off the fuel...

True failure rates of the 6CTA8.3L injector pump?

The 8.3 suffers from dry rot fuel lines, stuck fuel shutoff, and (if a tractor/dump/wrecker) bad fuel tank selector switch. These are your most common problems. As of the past two years I've seen a large trend in stuck IPs for this engine due to the fuel and lack of operation. There are a few...

    HMMVs coming from Hawaii

Having shipped multiple items form Hawaii I can sum it up: transportation is high, Hawaii is very aware of MVs on public roads and has banned them for non-residents, port/ship regulations about leaks is high (and MVs love to leak), also rust. So best to window shop and buy state side unless it's...
