    2HN Batteries?

    2HN vs 51R I've used 51R batteries from Interstate for the last 2 changeouts in the 151 very successfully. Terminals are in the same position, the R indicating reversed from a regular automotive battery. 2HN 10 1/4 x 5 1/2 x 9 51R 9 3/8 x 5 1/8 x 8 13/16 Kurt Lesser

    M101a1-M116a1 hub question

The crank down landing legs didn't become standard until the 101A3s. The A1s introduced the dump bed and front pull brake handles, the A2s introduced the surge coupler and 8 lug wheels and the A3s introduced the widened, dropped axle and the crank down leg. All the A3s I've seen also have...

    MRE Heater

MRE heater I've had one of these MRE heaters in the back of the HMMWV for at least 5 years now and absolutely love them. The one I got didn't come with that bulky NATO coax plug but a simple 2 pin Hubbell twist-lok connector that matched the outlets in the body of the HMMWV. It's a real case...

    M1009 Voltmeter question.

The majority of the M series battery voltmeters are 24 volt gauges. If you want to know exactly what voltage you have then look into marine (boat) gauges. Quite a few of them are 24 volt. Kurt

    M1009 Voltmeter question.

electrical testers Even if your not an experienced technician one of the handiest pieces of test equipment you can have in the toolbox is a simple test lamp. You don't need to be a genius to know you have power when the light goes on. Simpler than reading a meter! They're cheap and get the...

    batteries for M923A1

batterys If you can get a nice pair of 1500 CCA batterys that will fit into your truck I'd go for them..A set of 4, 6TN or 6TL batterys will cost you almost a grand today. Kurt

    headlight problems

wiring In a regular M series truck the wires marked 17 and 18 are your high and low beam power leads. The wire marked 91 is the ground lead and if it isn't connected you can feed all the juice to the headlights you want and they won't light up. Check your ground wire. Kurt

    M35A3 trailer harness extension

trailer wiring The trailer receptical on the M151 is a simple socket with short wires attached that could be spliced into the rear of whatever trailer you pull directly connected to the M35's pintle. All you'd have to do is to match up the numbers and you'd be good to go. Kurt

military spring antenna base for 2-meter operation

Shakespear 2 meter antenna Shakespear makes a matching unit that I believe was part of the PRC-128 high band kit that was designed for use in the 2 meter range. The one on my HMMWV says part number is 4255. It may be an obsolete product, I couldn't find it on Shakespears site. Kurt KG6KMJ

    lunette extensions

The only problem with the pintle extensions is that they'd block the rear stairs.

    lunette extensions

Austin Webber down in Marble Falls, Texas has some of the 6" lunette extensions that I believe were used on the M198 howitzers. Has anyone got any experience with them? Will they fit a standard M101A3 lunette? I need a short extension for my 101 because it's too close to the ambulance body...

Can 101A3 rims fit on A2 axle?

Prior to buying a really clean A3 I had A1s and A2s. The A2 will run with the high offset HMMWV 16.5" rims by using a spacer between the wheel and drum. Because I never put a combat load into the trailer a simple 3/8" spacer bought off of eBay worked fine. There wasn't any thread showing on...

    Repainting vs Powder coating

The only real concern I have with powder coating is what might happen to some of the gasketting and foam inside the cases, most of which can be taken out if necessary.

Powder coating now available in fed. Std colors

Nick, I'm getting ready to powder coat some radios and would like to get a reference to who has the correct colors and gloss. Do you have the ability to send me a small sample (enough to coat a penny) so that I can see how they look when they turn out? I'm looking for a good 24087 OD and...

    Repainting vs Powder coating

I'm in the process of reconditioning some radios and I've been looking for a good alternative to the Gillespie (Rapco) 24087 and the Aervoe 997A paints. The GC paint is a little too dull and brown and the 997A doesn't hold up well in the field even thought it's the right gloss and color. I've...

radio collection Lots of radios in the garage but the only one I have mounted is a single mount Sincgars 1439 in the HMMWV. One of these days I'll photograph the entire collection. R-442 R-1518 RT-246 RT-524(s) RT-1439 R-1444 R-2179 (GM6790) RT100MP GRR-8 (PRD-11) GSB900DX GRC-206 GRC-215...
