Thanks! I think I mentioned paint somewhere, and I agree that paint to match is on the agenda. I will be going with Behr paint. Under the Steel Soldiers "Paint and Restoration" forum there is a Behr paint section. Cheaper, easy to obtain, and less cancer causing agents. No mixing and therefore...
Thanks, and yeah, I crawled under her and bolts are tight and frame is straight and unbroken.
Not sure why she bumps rhythmically at 25-35MPH.
Ball joints are used up and tie rod ends are also used up and allow play.
Shock bolts are tight BUT shocks are getting changed as part of my routine...
Yeah, time delay response... As mentioned, there is a right rear axle rhythmic sound/bump/shudder at 25-35MPH. As Action suggested, it seems to smooth out and disappear at 40MPH. Drive-train seems ready/willing/able to go past 45MPH [but I restrained myself due to loose tie rod ends and ball...
Welcome.
If you wanna keep enjoying HMMWV's DON'T USE ETHER!!! Bad for the engines. Like real bad.
Change out yer fuel and enjoy. Perhaps buy a set of new glow plugs while yer at it.
[EDIT - You asked about where is the PCB... PCB is under dash to left of steering column, directly under and...
You're correct, as is Doghead… Got caught up in the moment, and forgot TOS.
Thanks for merging the threads Doghead!
Aerial view after securing loose bolt and pulling her home. She pulls and stops great. Almost don't feel her when driving, even with 8 12 bolt tires and a load of other properly...
Started accessorizing. Pulled the trailer home from work. Pulls great and onboard brakes are working awesomely.
M1102 trailer with fiberglass cover. Filled with a few 12 bolt tires with new uncracked rubber, and other goodies for later.
Gonna do a Behr paint makeover when weather temps...
The issue is that the tire needs to be removed in order to remove the bolt to get it sized. No, not rocket science but certainly easier to ask on the forum to save some heavy lifting in the cold of Winter. Know what I mean?
Sorry if that was not clear.

I used the wrong word... Sorry. Crown NUT, not bolt.
Bolt is there. Just need the crown nut (and cotter pin).
Pics below show missing crown NUT AND crown NUT on other side.
[Sorry I used the wrong word...OOPS. Anyone else smelling burnt toast?]
Finally received my M1102 with fiberglass top.
Paid months ago but had trouble getting it shipped for a reasonable fee.
Missing the crown bolt [EDIT - MISSING CROWN NUT, not bolt] that holds the upper shock absorber to the upper mount. Anyone know a size or part number or even better A SOURCE...
Not quite an answer but not a hard solution...
Get a Vernier caliper.
Use the depth gauge and add 4mm or more.
Use the other side to measure the width of the hole.
Alternatively, size the width of the hole with a drill bit and mark and measure the same drill to measure depth.
Then post the...
So, maybe an educational sticky to each forum about how to properly post to Steel Soldiers with Tapatalk, explaining which options to use re.: image uploads?
So, I bought a set of these and I appreciate the video.
I am planning on going a step further. There are cheap 24-12 V inverters on "the auction site". Buying two and buying 2 relays to activate the halo eyes while turn lights are flashing seems easy, and is similar in nature to building a...
I used the search tool on this forum.
I did a search for "battery" and found the following thread that will interest you if you read through all of the posts regarding this issue.
https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?182652-HMMWV-Battery-replacements&highlight=battery
Are you asking what sizes, what amperages, what brands, what best fits, what works most like a military spec?
There are several posts recently, including one regarding a battery that can be ordered from a popular auto chain.
Personally I prefer Odyssey batteries, a dry lead battery that is...
Love rat rods. Some might think of Rat Rod HMMWV as sacrilege. Personally I think it is the wrong platform requiring too many modifications.
The old Jeeps are a better platform, as a H2 and H3.
I believe there were aftermarket kits to make Chevy Suburbans look like Hummers (copyright...
Images I hope will illustrate HMMWV suspension and axles with CV joints. NOTE - the axle pumpkin is above with flexible CV joint type axles, and the axles attach ABOVE the center of rotation of the wheels:
The best way to do the modification you're discussing is on another automobile...
In order to get higher ground clearance, HMMWV pumpkins are upside down. They lead out to axles that lead to a geared hub that turns another gear that eventually attaches to the rim/tire. The axles are not solid, and they rotate backwards from the tires IIRC.
A dually and 1/2 tonne and 1/4...
