    Keys for blazer

I tried to get one of my CUCV keys duplicated and the guy at Home Depot said he could not do it because it had a code on it saying that it was not to be duplicated.

    CUCV prices

The prices vary depending upon the condition of the truck and whether you have two or more newbies bidding it up. They range from $1,000 to $4,500 or more.

    Keys for blazer

Contrary to popular belief, there is more than one CUCV key. I know of at least two different keys, but there may be more. Unfortunately, I only have the more common one. Get someone to copy their key and send it to you. I was eyeing those M1009s, too. To make it worthwhile, I'd have to get...

    Current repeat EUC times

There are guys who buy less stuff than me that get their EUCs approved more rapidly. By the way, I meant to say it takes 12-13 calendar days, not business days. I keep saying, "OK, this is the last truck that I am going to buy from GL...but I can't look away."

Another reason to check your Deuce REALLY well....

I once had a problem with the transmission in an M813A1 pressurizing. I determined that it was the valve on the side of the transmission that was bad. I put the truck back together the way I found it as I figured the military put it together right in the first place. I could not understand...

    Got another MV...

I wonder why that truck has a winch and the lower headlights? I thought that the winch trucks always had the higher headlights...at least that is what I believed until now. Perhaps, someone installed the winch after the truck was built.

Fantasy Engine for the 809 series

Joe (CRASH_AF)...good point on the altitude affecting the performance of the motor. If the truck motors are like some other equipment (generators), they designed it to work optimally at 3,000 feet above sea level or below.

M35A2 Deuce- Small Oil leak when sitting through Flywheel !

Smell the leakage to determine if it is gear lube or engine oil (they have distinctly different smells).

Fantasy Engine for the 809 series

I'd stick with the NHC250. They are very reliable motors and have no problems doing the jobs for which they were designed...low speed, off-road work. The NHC250 was used for years in over-the-road trucks. The limiting factors with these trucks are the gearing and the transmission (and...

M35 in California needs ride to South Florida

The problem with driving a truck that far is the unnecessary wear you put on the truck. 3,000+ miles is a lot on any vehicle, but especially a 30+ year old truck, no matter what its condition. I actually thought about driving my truck from ND and decided against it for this reason. I do...

M35 in California needs ride to South Florida

I have a truck in ND. You or I could contact the same shipper to see what he would charge to first pick up a truck in CA...head to ND to get my truck...go to either MD or FL and then the other. I was quoted $3,700 to get my truck from ND to MD. Let's say he says it is another $1,500 for your...

    importing armor from outside US

Mike, you'd be better off buying something like this from Jeff. First, he has gone through the trouble of getting it here. Second, parts availability has got to better on the British stuff. Third, Jeff is right down I66 from you.

I forgot about that thread. I like Jeff's idea better...

5 ton soft top canvas fastners.

Contact any surplus dealer like John Winslow (252-883-2509). They will have residue trucks from which they can grab part of the soft top assembly. I doubt the will take apart a good soft top assembly, but they are bound to have parts of one. This is exactly what I did.

6TLs versus big box mart replacements

I know a lot of guys don't like the 6TLs, but I am very satisfied with their performance and life span. I have never had a 6TL last fewer than three years and even those batteries were seconds (past their shelf life...i.e, expired) and were in a truck that I did not start often (the baby was...

6TLs versus big box mart replacements

No matter what the cost, it still adds up. I just got eight batteries for $720 for the two M814s. This order was about a month after I got six from him for $540 (four for the HEMTT and two for an M35A2). You don't need 6TLs, though. I've used Type 31s and car batteries with no problems. I...
