    new owner M1009

Randy, let's see some pics of the truck! Congratulations on your win! How are you going to get it home? Are you going to tow it home with the deuce? It was cool to hang out with you at Aberdeen!

    M35A2 data plate

Jim, if I've understood you correctly, you want the correct, original Kaiser-Jeep VIN plate. You will be hard pressed to find that dataplate. I've searched for such plates and I think the best you'll do is a new VIN data plate with a space for you to stencil the manufacturer's name.

    What is this hole?

I believe that the top hole was used most often with the older deuces and the newer, mid-80s deuces used the bottom hole as has been said above. I am not sure why they switched, but I think it makes more sense in the lower hole since the duct work makes it tight closing the engine side access door.

    GL at Aberdeen

Robyn, Tim, Lisa and the other GL rep were very nice. I was especially impressed that Robyn drove one of the M813A1s up to Aberdeen from Ft. Meade!

    Where to get ether bottles?

Why not just leave the empty one on the firewall and keep a can of starting fluid in your toolbox? It will work just as well and is cheaper. I am all for authenticity, but no one will know. I had ether start on the HEMTT, but I never even tried it (even though the guy that sold it to me...

    Weight Limit

The data plate says 10,000 pounds on the road. I am sure it would handle more, but you might consider sticking to its intended limits. I've hauled 10,000 pounds of stone with a deuce and it drove/stopped fine. The limiting factor, as others have said, will be your ability to stop. Check the...

    900 series

I agree with Chris. The M939 series are head and shoulders above an M809, which is really just an M39 series truck that has had a few upgrades. Don't get me wrong, the M809 series trucks are cool and I like them a lot. I own several and have owned many more in the past. However, I would...

    Gillespie vs CARC

Let me add another point. I am not saying that you'd be able to tell if you painted the tailgate in 383 CARC green and the front fender in Gillespie, but you would notice it if the parts that were painted with different paint were right next to each other. Whether you can deal with the slight...

    Gillespie vs CARC

No, it will not. It is close, but it is not the same color. It will stand out, especially if you are painting with a single color. For obvious reasons, the camo can handle touch-ups better. I recommend CARC with Gillespie touch-ups, but CARC has its problems (it tends to fade I think more...

Scanned color copy of DL required?

I was recently notified by GL that the government is requiring a color scanned copy of our driver's license for the EUC process. I have submitted several EUCs over the past year and have never had to submit a color scanned copy of my DL. Is this a new policy or am I just dealing with a new...

Thanks, Kenny! By the way, I hope to see you at Aberdeen with your son next year!

    Bumper # translation

Thanks, Kenny and Swami. What does a Direct Support unit do exactly? This is the first time I've ever come across a DS # on one of my bumpers. Please pardon my ignorance on this issue...

    Bumper # translation

I have an M35A2 with which I was hoping to get some help translating the bumper #s. As you face the truck, on the passenger's side front bumper: NCARNG 691MT, on the driver's side front bumper: DS161. I know that the NCARNG stands for the North Carolina Army National Guard, but I did not...

    800 series hood/winch/hard top interest??

Wayne, PM me on the vise. I bought an NOS vise for like $150 I believe. It is the correct wrecker vise that goes on the front of an M936A2.

Mike, You know our space numbers. You'll be on one end or the other...probably the top end (away from I95). We'll talk when you get there. Bruce
