It is a viable option
Get a dual voltage alternator and wire two separate circuits [ie.: 24 V and 12 V]. Easier than swapping bulb and such, and dual voltage alternators came standard on many of our vehicles. Requires alternator and wiring harness conversion kit that also comes with new alternator mount.

Are you running low on fuel? That could imply a fuel delivery pump issue.

Well, I've noticed that occasionally on the more trafficked forums that posting allows multiple persons to view and comment on the written items.
