How to bypass PCB? I am aware some HMMWV owners have done it. TOBASH

The following post, reply #21 was AWESOME on how to bypass. Now I need to dream up a schematic with switches that will allow me to activate glow plugs then fire her up AND power electrics. Best, T https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?113634-Ever-see-inside-the-Protective-Control-Box...

Ever see inside the Protective Control Box?

Amazing post. Is this a sticky yet?

How to bypass PCB? I am aware some HMMWV owners have done it. TOBASH

I'm not trying to speak sacrilege here, and I don't want to precipitate a war of words. How might I build a manual control box? My 24Volt Landcruiser just uses a glow wire to show glow plugs are ready, and then she just starts right up with the twist of a key. Civilian 6.2 Diesel...

    Juan's M998 HMMWV

Juan, I have a request for myself and perhaps the others on this forum. The next time your vehicle rear wheels are up, please place the HMMWV in neutral and the transfer case into neutral and spin both rear tires forward. Please count the number of revolutions at the rear wheels to create one...

2 Questions: Block Heaters, and 12V/24V Jump Starting

    1) You live in West Virginia, so what do you consider to be extreme cold. I spend 14 years in the Canadian Prairies so extreme cold means minus 40 degrees C/F. Block heaters are easy to purchase and install as the engines are GM sourced. 2) I am upgrading my HMMWV to the newer style...

Steel Soldiers 20th Anniversary Logo Contest!!!

With all due respect... These were and are American built vehicles built primarily for the men and women of the USA who place their lives between me and the chaos that lies beyond our borders. I'm tired of those who are afraid to be proudly flying the American flag, because somehow showing...

Are all TH400 transmissions geared the same way? I'm curious.

You know, in retrospect it was a silly question... I knew and then did not recall that all three speed GM end at 1:1. Guess it is time for Aricept. (dementia medication) Sorry T

    Yeah. Shucks. Thanks

Are all TH400 transmissions geared the same way? I'm curious.

After all these years I never thought to look up or ask. I never thought about the ratios inside TH400 trannies despite swapping dozens. Are all TH400 transmissions geared the same way? Do some have taller gears than others? Can a TH400 from a Chevy 454 or Chevy 400 big block with the...

    Humvee

What's confusing is the re-animation of an old thread. Might I suggest you start a new thread where you introduce yourself and your rig. Tell us the year, engine type, tranny type, and a few pics make things more fun. This thread dies early January 2018, and suddenly you chose to re-animate it...

    Air deflector

If I wanted a Jeep, I would go out, look carefully, and then select the matching skirt I would need to wear while driving it.

    Air deflector

It would seem from this member's profile that he is a metal worker. I guess he is trying to sell this deflector. While I think this item is "a swing and a miss", the craftsmanship seems acceptable. Perhaps he can be persuaded to design and build other stuff for sale. Best, T

    Air deflector

I helps prevent heat dissipation from the engine, improving GovPlanet sales of replacement engines.

Well, finally registered her and drove her for my first time...

Been a while since we spoke. I hope all is well. I look forward to driving to the big easy to finally meet you some day soon! I bet you have the taller differential gearing. Either that or you're running 45" tires. LOL T

Steel Soldiers 20th Anniversary Logo Contest!!!

I have an idea but I'm not a computer graphics kinda guy. Might I suggest a soldier saluting in profile in the direction of our American Flag, with the flag gently shaped to resemble a truck that is sitting on military rims/tires. The 20 years and steel soldiers can easily be working in there...

Well, finally registered her and drove her for my first time...

You're only 18 hours away. Drive her here and we can fix 'em both. LOL. You AND all the guys online are welcome to visit me in Queens, NY. (Just not all at once... Parking might be an issue. 8-)) I gotta say the thing is a blast. Loud, oversized, and yet stops on a dime! Yeah, AWESOME to drive!

Well, finally registered her and drove her for my first time...

I bought a slantback 'cause I want a slantback. Nothing more iconic than the slantback, except maybe a Conestoga wagon. There are remedies for the parkway, as mentioned above.

When do you think OshKosh LATVs will be available?

I'm waiting for a nuclear sub or a Nimitz class vessel. I live by the beach ;)~

    Transmission Swap

Civilian models have additional horsepower engine options IIRC. Easier to push bigger tires.
